Lana pulled on the gloves carefully. "Don't worry. I'm nervous enough about going in there. I'm definitely not going to wander anywhere!"

She took a deep breath. "Straight to the right, leave immediately if the lights go off. Got it."

"Thanks." Lana took a deep breath and headed inside carefully.

She didn't know how long she'd been in there before she found it. Special Collections felt strange - almost as if it was alive - and time didn't seem to run quite normally. She knew the book was the one she'd been looking for as soon as she found it, though she couldn't have explained why that was.

She pulled it off the shelf and sat it down on the table to look at it. It seemed to be a spellbook of some kind, belonging to the Countess Isobel Theroux. Lana hesitated, touching the raised design on the cover, and then, even though she knew she shouldn't, she slowly stripped off the dragonhide gloves.

She reached out one careful finger to trace the design, but the moment she touched it, everything seemed to explode in blinding yellow-white light and Lana knew nothing else.
