"You're welcome," Sam replied, smiling softly. "I mean, it's not like you tried to make something weird happen. It just did, and as long as you're okay, there's nothing to freak out about."
"Nope, that's me. An epicenter of weird," she tried not to be too bothered by that, "and actually, I was thinking that maybe it could be a good thing. Eventually."
"Like when you were captured by the trolls," Dawn said enthusiastically, "We could have maybe made a door and gotten people out, without having to do as much of the fighty thing."
"And that probably would have gone a lot faster," Sam replied, shuddering a little at the thought of the troll he'd dealt with. "That's a really, really good point."
"Thank you, I liked it," she smirked at him, still unable to believe how well he was handling the day-to-day of dating a bright green ball of energy, former. "So, Dean gave me a picture of you in Ethics class yesterday."
Sam's eyes narrowed, and he muttered slightly unkind things about Dean under his breath. "Of course he did. Why does that not surprise me? I'm amazed he didn't photocopy the picture and plaster it all over the dorms."
"I'm sorry, let me try that again," Dawn nodded solemnly, very amused by Sam, "Of course the entire student body won't care that you spent a class in a mouse-eared hat."
"What, you don't think it's okay for me to say something like, 'You're not an epicenter of weirdness. Surely, nothing strange will ever happen to you again.'"
"I think that's very nice of you," she squeezed him happily, "but I think ignoring reality just to make ourselves feel better doesn't do anything except make us surprised when something does happen."
