Home Economics, Tuesday, period 1

Today there are tubs of water and baskets of dirty laundry on the students' tables. There's also a wide variety of detergents, soap, bleach and other useful cloth-washing things. There is also a handy pamphlet or two.

"Good morning, students. Today you are going to wash clothes by hand. It's an important skill to learn." Emma nodded. The fact that the mansion's washing machine had been wrecked in the flood obviously had nothing to do with today's lesson. Nothing at all. "Oh, and make sure you use rubber gloves."

She eyed them all for a moment. "If you empty your tub of water on the floor, you get detention. I've had enough of floods for a while."

ooc: Yes, it's Emma's laundry. Mod at will. If you search hard enough there might even be an item of colour here and there! Wait for OCD OCD is UP!

John finds a pair of socks with a hole in one toe. He starts washing that while thinking what Professor Frost must be doing to get a hole in her sock.

Setsuna's wondering how half of this stuff could even technically qualify as clothes. More like...clothing...fragements or something...

Annette? Totally was not standing there with one of Miss Frost's bra type thingies on over her blouse.

Confident in her washing abilities, Annette dumps all of the dirty clothes on her table into the wash tub, dumps in all the laundry detergent and bleach, and starts to wisk them around with a ruler she found.

Dawn grumbled, but started washing what she hoped was a pair of pants or leggings, but she didn't want to examine them too closely. Luckily, bleach was good at killing things.

River threw a wet pair of stockings at Dawn.

"Gah!" They hit Dawn in the side and hung there for a few minutes. She used two fingers to peel them off and tossed them back at River. She may have also stuck her tongue out.

River ducked and stuck her tongue out back, giggling happily.

Dawn couldn't help noticing how quick River was when she ducked. "Your stockings are showing," she told her with a sniff, trying to ignore the fact that she was damp.

That earned Dawn something bra-like hurled at her by a still giggling River.

Dawn squealed and dodged the bra-like thing. She grabbed a sock, dunked it in the water, balled it up, and threw it back at River before ducking behind the washtub.

Stark started grabbing items at random out of a basket and dumping them into the tub. It was probably best, he thought, not to look too closely at any of the items he was supposed to be washing. That would only end in flailing, he was sure.

This isn't so bad for Aeryn, even if it is weird doing her teacher's laundry. Really weird doing her teacher's laundry. She's just not paying that much attention. Or trying- how do you even wear that??

Washing clothes was boring. River looked for items as small as possible and dropped them into the tub and waited.

Tyler looked through the laundry, but found nothing with bloodstains. That was too bad. he was pretty good at getting those out. He grabbed what he guessed was a shirt and started scrubbing.

Jim had mixed feelings about this. On one hand, pretty much all of Professor Frost's clothes probably counted as lingere and he was a teenage boy, so that was pretty cool. On the other hand, this really seemed like something that you'd feel creepy about and go to jail for, which was weird when your teacher was telling you to do it.

Jim decided that it ended up on the side of fairly cool mainly because the clothes were white and he couldn't really mess that up too badly.

Pam gently prodded at something that could be either underwear or some rather substantial pants for Ms. Frost.

"Um."

"I think it's a hat," Jim said, peeking over.

"I don't like when I can't tell hats from pants," Pam said dubiously.

"Well, it's hard to tell when everything she owns has about as much to it as my socks," Jim said.

"Why are we doing her laundry? I feel like someone's suckup assistant," Pam whined.

"We're doing if for grades. Also because it's vaguely creepy," Jim said. "That's a running theme in this class."

Jamie totally doesn't steal from the pile of laundry and shove it in his backpack.

It's for Guido.

Really.

Layla was a firm believer in wearing clothes that were comfortable, and she definitely wasn't coming across many things that fit that description.
