Home Economics, Tuesday, period 1

Today there are tubs of water and baskets of dirty laundry on the students' tables. There's also a wide variety of detergents, soap, bleach and other useful cloth-washing things. There is also a handy pamphlet or two.

"Good morning, students. Today you are going to wash clothes by hand. It's an important skill to learn." Emma nodded. The fact that the mansion's washing machine had been wrecked in the flood obviously had nothing to do with today's lesson. Nothing at all. "Oh, and make sure you use rubber gloves."

She eyed them all for a moment. "If you empty your tub of water on the floor, you get detention. I've had enough of floods for a while."

ooc: Yes, it's Emma's laundry. Mod at will. If you search hard enough there might even be an item of colour here and there! Wait for OCD OCD is UP!

"Gah!" They hit Dawn in the side and hung there for a few minutes. She used two fingers to peel them off and tossed them back at River. She may have also stuck her tongue out.

River ducked and stuck her tongue out back, giggling happily.

Dawn couldn't help noticing how quick River was when she ducked. "Your stockings are showing," she told her with a sniff, trying to ignore the fact that she was damp.

That earned Dawn something bra-like hurled at her by a still giggling River.

Dawn squealed and dodged the bra-like thing. She grabbed a sock, dunked it in the water, balled it up, and threw it back at River before ducking behind the washtub.

River took cover behind another washtub, avoiding the sock. She looked around for something else to throw.

Dawn peeked her head out over the edge of the washtub to see what was going on.

River had found a rubber glove and hurled that at Dawn.

Dawn didn't duck fast enough and took a wet rubber glove to the forehead. It landed in the tub with a noisy plop. "Hey!" Dawn was now considering just grabbing a bucket of water and throwing it at River.

Sensing that thought River decided escape was the best option. She ran towards the other end of the room.

Dawn made a last-ditch attempt to hit River, took careful aim, and threw a pair of shorts (at least she hoped they were shorts, because ewwwwwww) at her.

Shorts were better than soapy water and hence River didn't try ducking that hard. The shorts stuck to her back as she dived under a table.

"YES!" Dawn stood up and did a triumphant little dance.

River could be heard muttering in Chinese from under the table.

Dawn only understood a few Chinese words, and didn't understand anything River was muttering.

The tone of River's voice might have been conveyed some meaning though.

It did, which was why Dawn didn't head over there with the extra-drippy bustier of Emma's that she was washing. She was going to have to ask River to teach her how to swear in Chinese, tough, because that sounded cool. Plus, Giles would never know when she was swearing.

River her picked up an impressive amount of Chinese swearwords from her time on Serenity. She could probably be convinced to make a list of them for Dawn and help her with pronounciation.

If Dawn knew that, she'd probably be regretful about throwing Emma's wet clothes at her. Except for the part where River started it.
