Home Economics, Tuesday, period 1

Today there are tubs of water and baskets of dirty laundry on the students' tables. There's also a wide variety of detergents, soap, bleach and other useful cloth-washing things. There is also a handy pamphlet or two.

"Good morning, students. Today you are going to wash clothes by hand. It's an important skill to learn." Emma nodded. The fact that the mansion's washing machine had been wrecked in the flood obviously had nothing to do with today's lesson. Nothing at all. "Oh, and make sure you use rubber gloves."

She eyed them all for a moment. "If you empty your tub of water on the floor, you get detention. I've had enough of floods for a while."

ooc: Yes, it's Emma's laundry. Mod at will. If you search hard enough there might even be an item of colour here and there! Wait for OCD OCD is UP!

"You said it was!" Pam said, and she would have looked more alarmed if she hadn't been laughing.

"I was joking," Jim said, standing up straight again. "What's with you, throwing people's dirty laundry around?"

"I wanted to see if it really was a hat," she said innocently.

"You could have asked her," Jim suggested.

"No, she scares me," Pam said.

"How scary can she be when you've been through her underwear?" Jim asked.

"I'm not sure it's her underwear. Like you said, we both wear more on our feet than she does on her entire...self," Pam replied.

"Underwear, outerwear, it's all the same with her," Jim said.

"Isn't there a dress code?" Pam wondered.

"If there is, it's pretty lax," Jim said.

"Jaye told me people sometimes go to class shirtless, so maybe not," Pam said, thinking aloud. She shook her head. "People are weird."

"This place is weird. We had fish people in town this weekend," Jim pointed out.

"They threw fish at me!" Pam said, blushing very dark suddenly.

"I stayed inside," Jim said.

"I didn't," Pam contributed, really hoping he wouldn't ask how she got them to stop with the fish-throwing.

Re: Wash things

[identity profile] fat-halpert.livejournal.com 2007-03-14 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
"That was your first mistake. It looks like you escape the fish-throwing, though," Jim said. "That's a good thing."

Re: Wash things

[identity profile] keds-champion.livejournal.com 2007-03-14 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes," Pam said simply. "Yes, they just...stopped. Without me doing anything."

Pam was a bad liar.

"No, seriously, what happened?" Jim asked.

Re: Wash things

[identity profile] keds-champion.livejournal.com 2007-03-14 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Nothing," Pam said, staring at her feet. "But - and don't ask how I know this - but they don't like whistles."

Re: Wash things

[identity profile] fat-halpert.livejournal.com 2007-03-14 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
A grin slowly spread across Jim's face. "Well done, Beesly."

[identity profile] keds-champion.livejournal.com 2007-03-14 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
"They also weren't wearing sunscreen," Pam added. "I don't know how I know this."

Re: Wash things

[identity profile] fat-halpert.livejournal.com 2007-03-14 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, it sounds like somebody was on the job," Jim said.

Re: Wash things

[identity profile] keds-champion.livejournal.com 2007-03-14 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
"But not me, because I don't blow whistles or ask questions like that," Pam said, nodding resolutely.

[identity profile] fat-halpert.livejournal.com 2007-03-14 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm just glad to see that my present to you came in handy for someone," Jim said.
