Ethics [Monday, March 11, 5th period]

Anakin was leaning against the desk as the Ethics class walked in. A crumpled version the syllabus was in his hand.

"I hope you all stayed dry this weekend and kept your fish throwing to a minimum," he said. "The syllabus says that we're supposed to begin a discussion of the seven deadly sins today, but I want to get to know you a little bit first."

He was supposed to be a new instructor, after all.

"What manner of action do you find unforgivable?" he asked, his voice and manner completely unreadable. "Treason against your country or homeworld? Stealing from the defenseless? Slavery? Murder? Let's not worry about extenuating circumstances for the moment. If I were to tell you I killed children, most of you would recoil, correct? Where do you draw that line in your head? How far does someone have to go before you say 'that's wrong and there's no getting past it'?"

He avoided John's eyes as he paced around the room, finally pointing at a student. "Go ahead."

"He didn't tease you any more than I did at first," Dean pointed out. "He just didn't understand that I can get away with more because I'm your brother. And it's not just him that hasn't behaved as well as he might. You've been pretty pissy to him right back."

"Maybe," Sam said, not willing to own up to his actions any more than that at the moment. "I don't know if I can make myself like him, Dean."

"At this point I'd settle for you two not at each other's throats all the time," Dean said. "And not having one or the other of you coming to me to complain at least once a week. And to be able to talk about Alec without you giving me that bitchface of yours."

"Fine, I won't complain to you about Alec," Sam replied. He didn't expect to not have anything to complain about, but he could hold back from saying anything to Dean if he needed to. "And I won't bitchface as long as the topic doesn't turn to sex."

"I'd appreciate it," Dean said, some tension leaving his shoulders at that concession.

"I'd appreciate it too," Sam said, smirking softly. "I have my own sex life to freak out about, I don't need details from yours too."

"Have you got to the point where there is a sex life?" Dean asked, interested.

"Um. We're in more of a foreplay life right now," Sam admitted. "But we're getting closer."

Dean grinned at him. "Well that's progress. You'll get there."

Sam nodded. "Eventually. Maybe."

"You will," Dean said confidently. "And then we are so going to celebrate."

"We are not going to celebrate," Sam said, rolling his eyes.

"So you don't want to go to the mainland with me on a day trip?" Dean asked.

"...you really want to do that just to celebrate me having sex?"

"Hey, losing your virginity is a very big milestone," Dean told him. "It's one of those becoming a man transitions. I missed you becoming a teenager, figure I need to hit all the other ones."

Sam couldn't help but smile at that. "I guess it would be a major milestone," he admitted. "And if you want to roadtrip, I'm certainly not going to say no."

"Well there we go then. Plans are made. You just need to tell me when."

"If you embarrass me when I tell you, I will never forgive you," Sam warned.

"I'm hurt. Really. Would I do that?"

"Maybe. I wouldn't put it past you to take the opportunity to tease me if it presented itself."

"Teasing and embarrassing are not the same thing," Dean pointed out logically.

"I guess not," Sam replied. "I'll just have to make sure I tell you in a private place."

"And that there are no squirrels nearby."

"No squirrels! None at all!" Sam agreed quickly.

"So do you want to go see Zoe together tomorrow?" Dean asked, getting back to the original topic.
