As the students entered the Danger Shop, they noticed that they were on a rooftop with The Tick standing at the edge of the roof overlooking the cityscape. He held a clipboard in one hand.

When everyone had shown up, he turned around and smiled. "Good morning, detentioned students! I am The Tick and I shall be your detention instructor today! Today I'll be showing you the ins and outs of Wrong. You see this city? It's based on The City, my Home Away From Fandom! The City is known for many things. Good diners. Science that is both mad and beneficial. And the never-ending struggle between good and evil, all dressed up in tights! Since you're here, it's assumed that you may be branching out to the evil side of that struggle, so I'm going to show you first-hand that crime doesn't pay!"

"You'll be undergoing a series of simulations as the villain. When you try to do your dastardly deeds, a random hero of The City will come out to thwart you! Don't take these thwartings personally, though. It's our job. The superhero is the Telemarketer of Justice and villains are sitting at home, not expecting to be bothered, but bothered they are because their home is a robot that's destroying a bank and then a call comes asking if you'd like to order some law! And the villain says no, but after some stuggle he's convinced to do so! The only difference here is that instead of better rates on their phone bill or weekdays AND Sundays for newspaper delivery, they just purchased a stay in prison."

"There are some costumes in a box there if you really want to get into the whole theme, but they're optional and completely school appropriate."

[OOC: Sorry for getting it up a little later than intended. Writer's block followed by icon making = slight delay. I'll be around all day. Playing 17 NPCs. *sighs at self*

For the record, I know there are people who will be signing in late in the day. I am totally cool with that. I never want to stop playing this detention until my brain explodes, so I'm good to play it out however long it takes. :D]

Mel ordered a burger and sat down for what was hopefully a peaceful lunch.

Sam got a tuna melt and fries and sat down across from Mel. "Hi, I don't think we've met. I'm Sam Carter."

"Mel Fray," she said with her mouth full of burger. "Damn glad to meet 'ya."

"You too," Sam ate a fry. "So, liking it here okay? And I'm saying that assuming you're a new student and that's the reason I don't know you, instead of my own obliviousness."

"This place? It's pretty frakking weird," Mel replied with a grin. "Is it wrong that I love it?"

She grinned. "Nope. I'd actually be more worried if you didn't. Been here for an invasion yet?"

"No," Mel pouted. "And I totally missed fighting those shadow thingies."

"I was lucky to enough to avoid them. Jack? Not so much." She grimaced and dragged a fry through the ketchup, then dropped it on the side of her plate.

"Yeah. I hear that intangible thing sucked," Mel replied.

"That's definitely one way of putting it." Terrifying was another, not that she'd mention it. "Luckily, it ended quickly."

"Yeah," Mel replied. "Good thing for everyone but not to sound ungrateful? I hope something happens soon."

Sam scooted over and glanced over her shoulder. It looked like the robot damage had been repaired. "Careful what you wish for, is all I'm saying. You have training?"

"Getting it," Mel replied poking at her burger. "At least more formal stuff."

"Weapons?" Sam asked, taking a bite of her sandwich, "Or magical?"

"Mostly hand-to-hand stuff," Mel replied. "What I'm supposed to face? Normal weapons don't work so much."

"What're you supposed to face?" Hey, it was always good to be prepared. Usually what people were supposed to face seemed to show up in Fandom. Occasionally teaching a class.

"Vampires. Demons. Supernatural evil," Mel said with a little eyeroll. "Not to sound like I'm full of myself but apparently I've been chosen to fight evil."

"You sound like my old roommate," Sam mused. "She was, too."

"Who was your roommate?" Mel asked.

"Buffy Summers," Sam said, then added, "Not the one we have now. Different one. Older, sadder. I didn't really see her much."

Mel smirked. "Yeah. She and I kind of have the same deal. She's came about 200 years before I did."

"You know you shouldn't tell people what happens, right? In between your time and ours?" Sam said, already having paradox concerns.

"I don't know a lot about what did happen before," Mel answered honestly. "Historical records where I'm from are either biased or murky at best."

"Oh, okay, good," Sam was very relieved, even after considering what probably happened to the records. "That's better."

"You have some issues with information from the future?" Mel asked.
