Library - 2/21

Isabel was at the library early. Hopefully there was information somewhere that would help them get Lucas and Katara back.

Sipping her coughing, Isabel searched the card catalogue for any books that might be relevant.

Rikku stopped in before her morning class - the one Lucas was supposed to TA, she was pretty sure. Gulp. She would probably be coming back right afterwards, too.

She walked up to the other girl nervously. "Um, do you know where the books on - quantum are?"

"Let me look," Isabel said, clicking on the search bar. "What type specifically? Mechanics? Physics?"

"I don't know." Rikku tried to remember something of the books Lucas had been reading. "I think mechanics. Stuff about temporals. And portals. And time gaps."

She tried to look nonchalant. She probably failed.

"Let me guess," Isabel said. "You were there with Lucas last night."

Rikku left her mouth hanging open for a second, then nodded. "Yeah. So you - did anybody find anything yet?"

"Greg came and told me what happened last night," she explained quickly. No need to let anyone think she could mind read. "Not yet. I've mostly been pulling out books that might help. Now we need to start reading them."

Sokka swept in behind Rikku.

"You have? AWESOME! Where are they?"

Rikku nodded. "I was too scared to tell anyone."

"Did he leave any notes? I wish I had paid more attention when he was talking about it."

Balthier was fairly sure he remembered what books Lucas had been referencing when he caught him in the library before. He come up behind Rikku and Sokka with his hands on his hips. "Find anything yet?"

Rikku shook her head. "This quantum stuff kinda makes my head hurt."

"Would it help to know what books Lucas was looking through before?" He offered, fairly sure that he remembered which ones they were.

Greg? Here. And worried. And camped out a table.

Dick's here. He's got a book in front of his face. Ignore the snoring coming from behind it.

Sokka picked a large table over near the wall to be the command-and-control center.

Any books that people found, or notes that people took, went on the table. He also taped a large sheet of paper to the wall and wrote "WHAT WE NO SO FAR" on it in big letters.

Rikku nodded at him. "How are you holding up?"

"We need another sign. 'What We Need.'"

"I'm not holding up. You?"

Sokka set to work, and shortly "WHAT WE NEED" was also taped to the wall.

He'd already filled in the first entry on it: "KATARA AND LUCAS BACK"

"I'm okay. Next on the list: weapons."

"Boo-yah." Sokka added "WEPPONS" to the list. And underscored it. And put a box around it.

And then added "ROPE (ALOT)".

"Lucas and Katara were gonna try tethering themselves to something on this side of the portal, so they didn't get stuck there. It's not a bad idea, if we can find rope."

"Morning," Yomiko said as she stumbled in.

"Morning," Isabel said. "How are you today?"

"Oh, I'm just fine. How are you?" Yomiko asked her ~~minion~~ aide.

"Busy," she said, scrolling down a list of books. "There's a bit of a research party going on."

"Oooh, research. Well, I am a librarian, so if you need any help, just let me know!"

"Thanks Mrs. Readman. I appreciate it."
