Library, Monday [2/19]

Yomiko had spent the entire weekend holed up in her basement, working on a translation of Russian fairytales for extra cash. So she had no idea anything unusual had happened that weekend. Sometimes, it paid to be oblivious.

"Squid-free," Lucas said, then realized how stupid that sounded. "But good. And good. I guess squid-free is good. I was just talking to Sokka about this time portal I found. Do you maybe want to come see it some time?"

"Unless you were hoping to eat the squid for lunch?" Katara pondered. "In which case, Dawn is making spaghetti in the Common Room, and I'd advise that." She tilted her head. "Time portal? D'you know where it goes?"

He shook his head. "But I'm hoping to find out. I was thinking of sending something through tomorrow to see if it goes somewhere, well, somewhere I could breathe."

"Something to check the air?" Katara asked. She totally didn't glance at the chinchilla on her brother's shoulder. Because that would be wrong. She eyed him. "If it is somewhere you can breathe, promise you won't go through by yourself?"

He *had* been thinking about going through by himself, but now that he actually thought about it properly, that was a stupid idea. "I could go through tied to something, that way I can get pulled back out."
