Crossposted because it's that important.
If you are not in the list that I posted a few days ago, have not been approved for posting at
There have been several instances of people who do not belong to this game reported to me. Unless and until enrollment is opened again and your character is personally approved by
This may eventually change but, as of right now, it's just the two of us... and I know damn well she hasn't approved anyone except our new webmaster in quite some time.
If this persists, everyone here should have these people friended and we will allow 'friends only' posts until the intruders desist.
Please be polite, but inform non-members that they cannot play here without first waiting for open enrollment and then being approved directly by
Thank you.

I have never felt afraid to respond in character. Then again, I'm not getting a whole lot of play time in because a lot of the playing being done is in large involved plots that I don't feel welcome trying to even hang on the fringes of.
It gets confusing since all players bring their own expectations to the game. In this thread alone so far there's been the declaration that this really isn't a high school and so things should be looser than for a high school and in just a few comments down someone else says it's like a high school and certain high school elements (ie cliques) should be expected.
*shrug* Whatever. It was said it's hard to respond to everything and I agree it is. But when I comment to someone and someone else does as well and the second person is known to the commentee so I get ignored in favor of the 'known' commentor...doesn't really give me much reason to try.
I'm not sure what all these rules are that people keep complaining about. Could be that they just don't affect my character being who he is. Most of it seems to me to just be common sense anyway. That's my take at any rate.
I'd rather see a tight hand trying to keep some semblance of control than to have this turn into a free-for-all which is fun for a handful of people and not very fun for the rest of us because toes and other body parts get trampled. I didn't join a game for total anarchy. A certain amount of controlled chaos is expected, yes. And should be encouraged. Not unchecked chaos.

When it sucks is when you have people who are here for, say, D and who can't find anyone else who's here for that too.

Yep. Especially in light of the fact that some of us don't have a 'fandom' represented to bind us together. We just do what we can to have interactions.

*Player A sees something they don't like. Player A writes admin*
*admin tells everyone to stop doing what player A doesn't like*
What I would like is an opportunity for everyone to discuss the new rules between those two events. Because if the majority of the players agree it should be a rule? Great.
But if it's two, or three, or even seven people out of a hundred + and the rule gets made anyway? There's a problem, because you then have one very vocal subset of players essentially dictating the game rules for everyone else, and that's not going to be good for the longevity of the game, especially when another group starts to feel they're always the target of these newly imposed rules. (Which is why you probably haven't noticed them much... they seem to be affecting a certain segment of the school population rather more than the rest of it.)
maybe I am missing the point
Administration by committee doesn't work. Someone has to be the final decision maker. If some of the decisions made thus far had gone to 'committee' they would still be in debate.
Excuse me if I don't see a whole lot of spell slinging in this game so far but a hell of a lot of gun waving and gun bragging and gun complaining and gun threats. So this 'silent majority' seems to be quite vocal in their own right.
There's a problem, because you then have one very vocal subset of players essentially dictating the game rules for everyone else,
Couldn't this be said about any subset of players complaining about the rules, for or against, not just the ones who the rules seem to inconvenience?
If they are worried about their 'rights being inpinged upon' why are they not writing the admins about it? If the 'vocal minority' is being heard and managing to make all these new rules, it seems the 'unheard majority' would be able to affect sweeping changes back to the way they wanted it before, if they would just write the admins about it.
*shrug*
I am curious about how you determined it's only two or three or seven people complaining. I think if someone went back and took count of the players that have been playing regularly, you'll see it isn't the 200 characters all playing at once but probably a core of 50 or so. (I don't have the time to go through several pages of the comms to count the different people posting).
I am curious how you can say that the majority of people who have said they don't have time for a time intensive game like fandomhigh has been, it's been because of these rules.
Who's to say they haven't quit because they didn't feel like they fit in to all the little subsets of players and groupings and after trying, decided not to try anymore?
Or...you know...didn't have time for a time intensive game like fandomhigh, like they said?
I've noticed the recent spate of players dropping out have been players giving up a character because...they don't have time to carry as many as they have.
Just some thoughts.
