Detention 02/1007 - Saturday, Danger Shop

John was waiting for them outside an old, slightly rundown apartment building, leaning casually against his car.

"Good morning," he greeted them. "Nice to see you all bright eyed and eager. Hopefully you'll still be that way when you finish your detention. Please sign in on the list and take a knapsack."

He indicated a table next to the car which had a pile of knapsacks on it beside a paper that listed their names:

Katara
Steerpike
Jo Harvelle
William Kessler
Ami Mizuno
Liz Sherman
Turtle Wexler
Sam Winchester

When everyone had done so, John continued. "There's a ghost that's haunting the building behind me. Young women keep disappearing out of locked apartments never to be heard from again. One just disappeared last night out of apartment 309. You are going to find the ghost and stop it. Everything you need to do so is in the pack you've been provided. Once the ghost is no longer a threat, you're free to go."

"If there's no questions, you may begin."

[ooc: wait for ocd is up. Let's go ghostbusting.]

After picking the lock on the door, Jo pulled out her EMF meter and began scanning the girl's apartment.

Frowning, Jo started walking closer to that wall.

Sam totally not copying Jo, really also picked the lock on the apartment door, and started by looking around for signs of a struggle, or how the girl might have been taken.

Sam did in fact notice that, and wiped at the gunk, making a face at how it felt. Then he took the EMF meter out of his pack, waving it around slowly.

Katara broke the lock on the door by freezing a bit of water in it then started looking around for clues about the girl's disappearance.

She reached out to poke at the goo carefully before looking around to see if there was more in the room.

Turtle had broken into a house once. Thankfully, that was enough to help her sneak into the apartments in the same manner that she had snuck into the Westing house whaat seemed like so many autumns ago (it was just last year). Now if only she could find a billiard cue to protect herself like she had then, as she nervously crept her way toward 309.

Turtle did notice it, nose wrinkling as she edged closer and tried to figure out what it might be...or if she even really wanted to know.

Steerpike kicked the door in.

The guy in charge had said nothing about having to be subtle.

"Going into the apartment and investigating the disappearance of a girl," Steerpike said, self-importantly and matter-of-factly. "If you have a key, you can help. If you do not, I'd ask you to please refrain from getting in my way."

Ami jiggled the handle on the door. Locked. She had no idea how to pick a lock, so she went looking for the landlord. He would have keys.

Ami knocked on the door, in the hopes someone was in.

Once Liz got into the apartment she began looking around for anything that might indicate how the girl had disappeared.

When Liz spotted the gunk she frowned and got out the EMF Meter to see what readings it gave.

Billy looked for hotspots with the EMF thingee, particularly the area just around the apartment, and the spots that looked like they'd be haunted. The basement, dark corners and such.

"Well now that's interesting." Billy said, squatting down by one of the vents.
