Library [02/02]

Rory came in bright and early and smacked a poster on the door before positioning herself behind the desk as usual with her coffee.

She grabbed a stack of books, and spent the day deep in research - both her own personal problem, and for the problems with the shadows.

[I'm AFK most of the day, so please mod Rory if you need help with something. ~~Wait for~~ OCD is up and a little different today. ~~Please wait for further OCD on the specific research thread, as it will be coming later while I am unconscious and people in Europe are not.~~ That OCD is up, too! Whooooo!]

Zack was a very translucent, very sleepy, very grumpy geek as he came into the library after lunch. Although he perked up slightly when he saw the books in the restricted section.

Katara frowned with worry when she saw Zack and approached him determinedly. "Did the evil spirits get you too?" she asked.

Zack nodded, rubbing his arms. "Yeah."

She reached into her bag and pulled out a cup and a thermos. "I have hot chocolate? Dr. Orpheus said chocolate's good against bad magic."

"I'd love some," Zack grinned. "Thanks, Katara."

Katara grinned back and poured a cup of hot chocolate for him. "I have regular chocolate too. But they don't really taste good together." She nodded and looked worried. "Be careful, okay? Until we figure out how to hit these things?"

Zack concentrated to make sure his hands wouldn't pass through the cup. "I will," he said. "I'm not exactly the heroic type."

"You're here and helping figure everything out while you're half-disappeared," Katara pointed out. "That's plenty heroic."

Zack blushed. "I guess when you put it like that."

Katara smiled, happy he was agreeing with her. "And I am. Besides, you're helping more than I am right now since the books don't make sense to me."

"They don't?" Zack asked.

"Our writing's different," she said, looking a bit embarrassed. "I can't read yours."

"I see," Zack nodded. "Do you know if your writing is similar to any of the alphabets around here? If it is there might be some books in here you can read that we can't."

Evie stopped when she got to the library table. "Oh, Zack. Not you too!"

Irulan spotted Evie. "Evie! Are you well?"

"I'm quite fine." Evie walked over and gave Irulan an anxious look. "But Jack isn't. Have you seen him? He's, he's...."

"I haven't seen him since yesterday..." Irulan said, remembering the sting of Jack's snubbing. "Why, what's wrong with him?" Then she looked at Evie in alarm, "He isn't plagued with this same malaise, is he?" She said in alarm.

Evie nodded, extremely upset. "I ran into him in the hall, and I could see the wall through his arms. He's just so tired and cold and--" She clutched a book to her chest for comfort. "We *have* to fix this."

It's then that it hit Irulan, of course Jack was afflicted to and to such degree! "Oh, you fool!" She exclaimed.

Evie blinked at Irulan, then turned to see if someone was standing behind her. "I beg your pardon?"

Irulan flushed, "Apologies, not you. I was cursing my own stupidity. I saw him yesterday and he ignored me-- I thought..." She shook her head, "Never mind what I thought, but I should have known something was wrong."

"No, that isn't like Jack at *all*," Evie agreed worriedly. "Since yesterday? Lord. Right then. We have to save him! He helped save me once, it's only fair!"

Irulan nodded very firmly, now dedicated more than ever to helping. "We must. I am helping in the research (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/1217125.html?thread=71114341#t71114341), would you care to help me?"

"That's what I'm here for," Evie said, holding up a book. "Lead me to it!"

Irulan nodded and lead Evey to a table filled with dusty books. "Knowledge is power." She said a little wryly then sneezed. "And dusty."
