Rory came in bright and early and smacked a poster on the door before positioning herself behind the desk as usual with her coffee.

She grabbed a stack of books, and spent the day deep in research - both her own personal problem, and for the problems with the shadows.

[I'm AFK most of the day, so please mod Rory if you need help with something. ~~Wait for~~ OCD is up and a little different today. ~~Please wait for further OCD on the specific research thread, as it will be coming later while I am unconscious and people in Europe are not.~~ That OCD is up, too! Whooooo!]

Haruhi nodded once. "We should switch to English in case anyone cares to overhear," she suggested, then looked back down at the books. "I was told that whatever caused this was a shadow-like creature, so you may want to look into that further."

Ami nodded. "You are right, i am sorry." She made a note. "We need to find out if this happened before, if it was the same way, and how it was stopped if it had." She sighed. "I am worried."

"No need to apologize," Haruhi assured, skimming over the pages in her book. "I can't seem to find anything that sounds related this this problem yet." She put a hand to her chin, silent for a moment before speaking up again. "At least you're taking this seriously. The ones I know this affected seemed to take it more lightly than they should."

"I am not sure how anyone can take this lightly. My roommate and my bo..." she stopped, blushed and amended what she was going to say "and my friend are becoming transparent and not there. IF we don't do something, they will disappear."

It wasn't hard to figure out what Ami was going to initially refer him as, going by her reaction, and Haruhi didn't see any point being embarrassed about it. However, now was definitely not the time to get into that subject. "Well, they don't seem to take much of anything serious to begin with." She shook her head with a slight eye roll. "With the amount of people showing up, I'm sure we'll gather enough to fix the problem. We just need to find as much as we can and share it with whoever needs it."

Ami nodded. "This is one of those times that i wish i had special mutant powers or something..." ami hated feeling helpless.

Haruhi's eyebrows raised. "You don't need those for this," she said firmly. "I've been fine without whatever freaky powers everyone else around here seems to have. You should just depend on what you can do already. No one's capable of everything."

Irulan nodded to the other researchers, "Have you found anything?"

"A little" Ami showed her the notes she had made so far.

"There have been attacks before?" Irulan asked, reading the notes. "But what's the cause and the origin? Why *now*?"

"I think Cameron said something about going into a cave. I am not sure. Maybe it is an ancient burial ground being disturbed or something?"

"Did he mention which cave?" Irulan asked, pulling out one book in particular.

"Serenity Cove? I think. But the name may have changed."

She frowned, taking note of this. "Thank you, I will look for any mention of Shadow creatures and Serenity cove."

Ami nodded. "And possibly the year 1460 or 1461."

She consulted Ami's notes. "It is the year you think it started, yes?"

"It is the year i saw anything even remotely similar being mentioned." She pointed to page 568 in her book. "See here, people disappearing into shadows? slowly?"

She looked up the entry, "I see what you mean. Mysterious disappearances, unverified reports of people becoming translucent and mentions of shadows."

"And the obligatory mention of devils, demons and evil witches." Ami sighed. "And someone suing the village elder for cursing his chicken. I think that may be irrelevant."

A shadow of a smile flitted past Irulan's face as she read the passage referred to. "I think we may as well pass on the chicken."

"You never know, it could have all been the chicken's revenge. But no. Argh." she sounded exasperated "This has nothing on what they did to fix the problem!"

"We'll find it," Irulan assured her. "The solution lies somewhere in those books. All we need do is find the right one."

She gestured to the books and then at the stacks of books upon books upon books and realized how many books there exactly were in the library.

Ami chuckled a bit too bitterly. "Indeed. This one looks promising, it has odd and weird and mystical occurrences around the eastern coast of the Americas in the correct time frame. We shall see what it says." She started paging through the book.

Irulan nodded, she took another book, searching for references on Shadows and coves.

It really made her appreciate the technology back home where all books were condensed in one book and could be carried in one hand instead these heavy leather primitive originals.
