Rory came in bright and early and smacked a poster on the door before positioning herself behind the desk as usual with her coffee.

She grabbed a stack of books, and spent the day deep in research - both her own personal problem, and for the problems with the shadows.

[I'm AFK most of the day, so please mod Rory if you need help with something. ~~Wait for~~ OCD is up and a little different today. ~~Please wait for further OCD on the specific research thread, as it will be coming later while I am unconscious and people in Europe are not.~~ That OCD is up, too! Whooooo!]

"You never know, it could have all been the chicken's revenge. But no. Argh." she sounded exasperated "This has nothing on what they did to fix the problem!"

"We'll find it," Irulan assured her. "The solution lies somewhere in those books. All we need do is find the right one."

She gestured to the books and then at the stacks of books upon books upon books and realized how many books there exactly were in the library.

Ami chuckled a bit too bitterly. "Indeed. This one looks promising, it has odd and weird and mystical occurrences around the eastern coast of the Americas in the correct time frame. We shall see what it says." She started paging through the book.

Irulan nodded, she took another book, searching for references on Shadows and coves.

It really made her appreciate the technology back home where all books were condensed in one book and could be carried in one hand instead these heavy leather primitive originals.

Ami left for a while to go to class but came back waaay before the hour was over. "Couldn't concentrate on class. Any progress?"

Irulan looked-up, massaged her forehead and slid a stained yellow paper to Ami. "I've found references to an old legend surrounding the area known as the Serenity Cove. The writing's old and some I couldn't decipher with my translation device.

"The paper's really bad too but what I could gather it says something about an ancient evil lying dormant in or nearby the cove. Then it just goes on saying beware, beware without saying anything important at *all*."

Ami took the paper and looked at it. "We need someone whose native language this is..."

"Or it's in code," Irulan suggested, "A possible reason why my translator is spouting gibberish."

"Possible. Or the language is ancient. English changed a lot over time." She shook her head. "let me try again."

Irulan waved at Ami to go on. "Please, be my guest."

"Hm." Ami peered at the paper for a while. "I think it is more that the ancient evil was made to be dormant there..."

Irulan nodded. "I think you're right, it does mention something about sleeping, it could actually mean that."

"So, did someone put them to sleep, or did they just get bored and took a nap?"

"Well," Haruhi piped up ~~as her mun returned from work~~. "I think it sounds more reasonable that they were forced to lie to rest. People tend to fight back, I would say."

AMi nodded."You are probably correct. Now, over here" she pointed to three paragraphs down "There is mention of chantting. So a spell?"

"This sounds like it's right out of a storybook," Haruhi murmured, leaning over to peer closer at Ami's book. "Chanting could be used for many things. What does it say about it?"

"Not a lot" Ami reread the lines. "Just that everyone chanted and the shadows slept."

"So we can assume it was used in the process of putting them down."

Ami nodded. "I think so. Maybe they were locked in that cave that Cameron and Molly went into?"

"It sounds appropriate," Haruhi said. "Forcing them into an area no one really goes into in the first place; that way, the chances of anyone disturbing them would be slimmer."

"Right. But..." her voice trailed of as she looked through the rest of the page "what did they chant?"

There was a moment of silence from Haruhi before she slowly spoke again, "I have no clue," she admitted. "Maybe we should ask anyone if they know anything related to this chanting business."

"Maybe we should." Ami looked around to see what others were researching.
