Rory came in bright and early and smacked a poster on the door before positioning herself behind the desk as usual with her coffee.

She grabbed a stack of books, and spent the day deep in research - both her own personal problem, and for the problems with the shadows.

[I'm AFK most of the day, so please mod Rory if you need help with something. Wait for OCD is up and a little different today. Please wait for further OCD on the specific research thread, as it will be coming later while I am unconscious and people in Europe are not. That OCD is up, too! Whooooo!]

There was a spell in the Book for fighting a kind of shadow -- it could be tweaked a little to work in this instance. Time to put rhyming skills to work.

Chris was reading over Wyatt's shoulder. He couldn't actually hold a pencil or flip pages in a book right now.

"I think I saw a protection spell somewhere, too," he said. "Maybe a combination of those two?"

"Probably not," Chris said, realizing he hadn't told his brother what he'd learned the other day. And he wasn't about to tell him on his birthday. "Besides, she's got her hands full with stuff for the Source thing, we don't need to bother her about this."

Evie bumped into a boy she didn't know, and blushed. "I'm so sorry. Could you hand me that book of Egyptian magic next to your elbow?"

"Quite all right. Evie, Evie Carnahan." She flopped down on one chair and got our her notebook for translating, then sent Chris a slightly frightened glance. "Oh, dear. Even more people?"

Isabel's there, nose in a book. Looking up she sighed, "Why does everything have to be magical? Why can't we deal with evil aliens for once? I know what to do with that."

"Shoot 'em, take their stuff?" John flipped through a book. "I mean, does this stuff even work? I can't even pronounce this. Klatuu verata.... the hell?"

"Mostly we just ran like hell," Isabel admitted. "And I'd be careful reading this stuff out loud if you don't know what it is. We have enough to deal witho without you calling something else to the party."

Evie waved to Isabel as she picked up a book in Greek and sat down. "Hello, Isabel. At least you're solid."

Isabel reread the text a few times before finally looking up. "Um guys? I think I might have found something."

Tentatively, Isabel started to read...

Looking up, she shrugged. "Magic's not my thing but it sounds oddly appropriate."

Evie handed over some books to Liz, saying, "We're looking for the ritual to make the spell work. Could you look for that? I'm searching for more to the magic to make it work."

Evie was looking for some kind of ritual that would make the spells they'd found work. "Stage directions," she said in frustration. "Some kind of clue... ha. Maybe?"

Isabel had been reviewing the book she found the spell in. "In here they talk about light to keep back the darkness."

Evie looked thoughtful, and held up her book. "And this one talks about-- rings? Making um, circles, where everyone touches, to do rituals like this." She frowned. "Perhaps both?"
