Extraterrestrial Civilizations - Class 4 [1/31, Period 4]

This afternoon found Ellie's desk surrounded by half a dozen stocky teddy-bear like creatures, poking at everything they could get their hands on. Ellie snatched a calculator away from one, giving him a warning look, and addressed the class. "Today's guests are Ewoks from the moon of Endor. They don't speak our language, but fortunagely they have a protocol droid with them to translate." She gestured to the silvery humanoid robot who now moved forward.

"Please give the Ewoks your attention," Ellie continued. "And remember, they may look cuddly, but they're not mere teddy bears."

The Ewok seemed very impressed by Chad's height and chittered at him.

Chad stared a little for all the chittering, wondering if the Ewok language was a lot like that of the squirrels, but, figuring that he didn't know the language of the squirrels, either, he arched an eyebrow and looked toward the translating robot thing for help.

"He is very intrigued by your size and probable strength," the droid supplied helpfully.

Chad grinned a little, shoulders squaring proudly. Of course he was. Considering this, Chad leaned down toward the Ewok, flexing and presenting his muscled arm in case the little guy wanted to verify that strength.

Chitter chitter chitter.

The droid paused, then said, "He says you would be a very pleasing sacrifice for the Golden One."

Blink.

"Sacrifice?"

"The Ewok people sometimes make sacrifices to their gods before great feasts," the droid said helpfully.

Chad gave the droid a look. Thanks, robot. Real helpful.

"Why the Golden God?" he asked, instead. If the little guy was thinking about sacrificing him, he at least wanted to know more about who he was going to be sacrificed to.

"The Golden One is prophesied to one day walk among the Ewoks," the droid translated for the excited Ewok. "He would demand a proper sacrifice."

"S'not something, like, he needs a proper body to inhabit, and so that's what the sacrifice would be for, is it?"

Chad could totally dig that.

"Nothing like that," the droid translated. "You would be roasted to honor the Golden One."

Okay, yeah, not so cool.

"I'm honoured, little guy," Chad nodded respectfully toward the Ewok. "But I think I'll pass."
