Extraterrestrial Civilizations - Class 4 [1/31, Period 4]

This afternoon found Ellie's desk surrounded by half a dozen stocky teddy-bear like creatures, poking at everything they could get their hands on. Ellie snatched a calculator away from one, giving him a warning look, and addressed the class. "Today's guests are Ewoks from the moon of Endor. They don't speak our language, but fortunagely they have a protocol droid with them to translate." She gestured to the silvery humanoid robot who now moved forward.

"Please give the Ewoks your attention," Ellie continued. "And remember, they may look cuddly, but they're not mere teddy bears."

Guest Speaker Ewoks [1/31]

[identity profile] ec-npc.livejournal.com 2007-01-31 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
The Ewoks chittered, the protocol droid translated. They spoke of living high among the trees of Endor's forests, in villages built between the trees. They hunt and trap on the forest floor. They use spears and slings as weapons and have not progressed past stone-age technology, but they claim to be quick learners.

Ewoks have a tribal culture, with a Council of Elders ruling over them, and the Council, in turn, headed by the Chief. A medicine man also lives in the Ewok village, a healer and a keeper of mystical lore.

The Ewoks awaited questions.

Chad mostly stared for a good, long time. He seemed to be unable to decide if these things were incredibly cute or possibly absolutely repulsive. It was like they were made with the intent of being cute, but had evil marked on their faces. What did you ask essentially evil teddy bears that could potentially gnaw your calves because it wasn't like you could reach them?

One of the Ewoks wandered over to Chad and poked him with his stick.

And that would be Chad, being poked with a stick. He frowned at the little Ewok guy.

The Ewok seemed very impressed by Chad's height and chittered at him.

Lana couldn't help feeling a little, "Aw, so cute," about the ewoks. She tried not to let it show too much, though she was sure she had a s big smile on her face.

Chad stared a little for all the chittering, wondering if the Ewok language was a lot like that of the squirrels, but, figuring that he didn't know the language of the squirrels, either, he arched an eyebrow and looked toward the translating robot thing for help.

"He is very intrigued by your size and probable strength," the droid supplied helpfully.

An Ewok wandered over and started examining Lana's clothes.

Chad grinned a little, shoulders squaring proudly. Of course he was. Considering this, Chad leaned down toward the Ewok, flexing and presenting his muscled arm in case the little guy wanted to verify that strength.

Lana smiled and sat very still, resisting the urge to reach out and touch the Ewok.

"What sort of mystical lore?" Stark asked about the medicine man. He was just very curious as to what sort of mystical things fuzzy little bears thought about.

Carmela, predictably, thinks the Ewoks are cute.

Of course, Carmela thinks talking trees and eyed-eyed, ten-legged giant bugs are cute.

An Ewok (translated by the droid) began excitedly chittering about soul trees, the Great Spirit of the Forest, the Light Spirit, the Night Spirit, and Brother Sky.

One of the Ewoks climbed up on a desk next to Carmela's and started playing with her hair.
