Tremble Foolish Mortals: The Gods and You , Class Three [Period 5, Thursday]

When the students came in Ares was sitting at the front of the room throwing energy bolts at a number of scurrying action figures, whenever one connected he would start giggling in a most ungod-like manner.

When he finally noticed his class, Ares stood up. "Firstly, I would just like to say that anyone who wants detention for the rest of the semester just has to mention last weekend, white leather, or the L-word."

"Now that we've got that out of the way, Today we are going to be talking about Zeus and Hera, the King and Queen of the Gods, and my parents, so no disrespect from you brats."

Aphrodite	If the class had been paying any attention to Ares, they would have noticed a blonde woman appear in a brilliant flash of pink light and glitter behind him.
Ares	Ares stopped mid-sentence. "Oh, no."
Aphrodite	Which would be when the blonde tackled Ares with a hug. "Ar!" she squealed happily.
Ares	"Aphrodite," Ares replied flatly, returning the hug awkwardly. "What are you doing here?"
Aphrodite	"Visiting you silly," Aphrodite replied.
Ares	"Why right now?" Ares asked. "Can't you see I'm in the middle of class?"
Aphrodite	"I can see that," Aphrodite said and waved to the class. "Hey little dudes and babes." "That's why I'm here, I hear you were teaching a class about the fam and thought I could give my bro a hand."
Ares	"And how exactly do you propose to do that?" Ares hissed. "They're vicious little vipers who won't listen to the Goddess of Love."
Aphrodite	"You willing to bet on that?"
Ares	"Sure," Ares threw his hands in the air. "Why not?" "Kids," he pointed to the class. "This is my sister, Aphrodite, Goddess of mumble. Play nice with her."
Aphrodite	"Okay, little groovers," Aphrodite, addressed the class. "I'm Aphrodite, Goddess of Love. Now I know what you guys are thinking, how does she get her hair like that? The answer, my friends, is well, Goddess." "Now some of you dudes have the look of being weetiny warrior dudes and babe, and that's cool, but I know that there's often a perception among the sword and leather types of Love being weak," she said. "And I'm afraid that that can't be further from the truth." "Don't believe me?" she said. "Well, you've obviously never seen the results of unconstrained uncontrolled, overwhelming love, or lust as the case may be, why I remember the time someone-who-shall-remain-nameless got hold of my baby boy Cupid's arrows..." Aphrodite stopped as a wee glittery lightbulb went off over her head. "Dudes, I have has the most bodacious idea, instead of me telling you about this kind of thing, we're going to demonstrate." She turned to Ares. "Bro, you got a class list?"
Ares	From over at his desk where he'd started drinking heavily when the lightbulb went off, Ares gestured and the roster appeared in glowing letters.
Aphrodite	Aphrodite clicked her fingers a second list of names appeared next to the first. "Okay, student dudes, you see the name after yours?" Aphrodite asked. "For the rest of the class, you are madly, deeply in love and-slash-or lust with that person, and you want nothing more than to be with that person, not dirty. Okay, you're not really, but I want you all to act like you are to the best of your abilities." "Got that? Rock on."

Sam was facepalming, but there and waiting to be adored.

Molly had been biting her lip to keep from giggling as soon as the exercise had been announced. She'd flailed a little at first when she saw who she was paired up with, but then decided to just go for it. It was just for fun after all

She sat down next to Sam and gazed at her with a happy grin. "Have I ever told you that you have beautiful eyes?"

"Er, thanks," Sam was completely okay with this, really.

"And your smile never fails to light up the room."

This was the point at which Sam usually pulled her zat and shot one of her teammates. "So, how about last weekend, huh?"

Okay, compliments weren't working. Drat. She would have to think of another approach. She could chat in the meantime. "Last weekend was interesting. Did you turn into anybody weird?"

"Nope, just me," Sam admitted. "Which I guess is weird enough, considering."

"I didn't change either," Molly said. Then she got an idea. She sighed. "It did screw up my weekend though."

"Really? What happened?" Sam asked, concerned. "What's wrong?"

"Oh, it isn't a big deal," Molly said with a pout. "I was so busy wondering where Ray was and then keeping an eye on him that I didn't get a chance to check on my swoop bike like I wanted to. I think there might be something wrong with it."

"Really? What's wrong?" Sam was no less concerned now that the injured party might be a bike. "I could take a look at it, if you like."

Molly ignored the question about what was wrong because, as far as she knew, her bike was just fine. It couldn't hurt to have Sam really look at the bike though.

Her face brightened at Sam's offer. "Would you really!? I would love that," she said. "I'm fine with driving it, but I really need to learn how to maintain it."

"I could show you," she offered.

"Of beautiful, wondrous, amazing Sam." Jack knelt next to her desk, hands clasped over his heart, his absolutely best adoring expression firmly in place. There may even have been eyelash fluttering. "I'm not worthy to be in your presence, but I can not stay away, for you've captured my heart."

Sam had to bite the inside of her cheek to keep from giggling. "Is that so?"

Jack's lips twitched, but he managed to keep his expression adoring and not give in to the grin. "How could it be otherwise? The sound of your voice, the merest glimpse of you, the grace of your movements - they bring joy to my life, they grant my existence meaning."

Sam was going to need an insulin shot. "I'm, er, glad I could help?" She scooted away from Jack. "And I think you might maybe need glasses."

Jack followed her, and the grin was starting to sneak out. "Only because you've blinded me," a snicker, quickly caught, "blinded me with your," another snicker, and he started to laugh. "Your beauty," he managed to finish as he put his head down on her knee. "I'm sorry, I just can't keep going."

"Should I be offended?" Sam teased.

"Oh, terribly," he deadpanned, tilting his head to grin up at her, eyes gleaming. "I should be able to reel out endless sickeningly sweet praise in your honour. I've failed you. How can I possibly atone?"

Sam bit her tongue and shrugged, figuring Jack got enough ideas on his own and didn't need the help.

"Does that man you want me to use my imagination?" he asked, smiling wickedly. "Because that could be fun."

Sam swallowed hard and wondered what she was getting herself into. "I've always appreciated a man with a good imagination."

"Now that I do know," Jack murmured, sitting back on his heels. "Everything that comes to mind is," he looked up at the ceiling, smiling innocently, "inappropriate for class. But if you'll take a rain cheque..." He met her eyes. "There's still the hammock to be tried."
