[OOC: Just so you know, if you're showing up and attempting the assignments, you're passing, no matter how bitchy Jareth gets about it. Sorry this is so late. I had crazy RL stuff to deal with. Also, if you haven't noticed by now, Jareth likes getting people's names wrong, on purpose.]

Today's Lecture:

"We've so far introduced manipulation and myth. Now I will introduce magic. How many of you think you know magic? Can you give me a definition?

Jareth waits, looking around the class.

"Magic is manipulating things and people in ways that others don't or can't. We are going to try an experiment." He twists his hands and a crystal appears.

Then a crystal appears in front of each of the students.

"This will show you your dreams--if you can manipulate it correctly. Too little, you will not see anything. Too far, and your dreams will seem like reality.

"Find partners and take turns...attempting to see. If your partner stops responding, raise your hand and we'll all take a little stroll into their dreams to fish them out."

Xander eyed his sphere nervously. "...I'm good with you going first. All about the chivalry, that's me."

::giggles a little at that:: Ah well, curiosity killed the Nebari and all that.

::looks into the crystal. a little while later she starts seeing her most wished-for dream (http://www.livejournal.com/users/miss_monochrome/3334.html?#cutid1)::

::In the real world Chiana gasps.::

::A little bit later, Chiana smiles and thinks that she should stop looking now. She had seen her dreams, just like the teach had told her to do. But somehow she can't bring herself to leave just yet...::

::Then suddenly, Chiana's body starts jerking and she can't manage to wake herself up.::

Xander watches intently at the beginning, wondering just what she's seeing. It doesn't look to be that kind of dream, unfortunately. Too bad about that; weird gray skin or not, she's not hard on the eyes.

Except when she starts convulsing.

Xander's eyes widen and he puts a hand on her arm. "Hey, King J," he calls, "we've got one down. Girl overboard!"

Sora looks over and sees Chiana jerk and start to convulse and rushes over to help Xander with her, holding her up partially so she doens't fall over and hurt herself. "Chiana! Chiana, wake up! It's only a dream!"

[Didn't Sarah's friends calling her name in the movie help her wake up? *can't remember*]

[ooc - is ashamed at how long it's been since I've seen it - I can't remember either.]

[Damn, if my roomie hadn't packed her DVDs away I could check XD;]

Chiana looks over to her friends, reeling in the pain the collar is sending through her. She knows this is *wrong*. Something here is *very* wrong.

If only she could figure out why...

Jareth stalks over, bends over to look into the crystal and strolls into the dream.

"Chiana!" he says sternly. "Where are you?"

M..mmoya? No, no, that's not right. You're.. you're from someplace else. Where...where River and B-Beka are.

::jerks her head up as she remembers::

The school. This... this is just a dream, from... from class.

"Correct. Come with me." Jareth takes her arm and marches them to the edges of the dream. He uses his riding crop to break the glass wall and the go tumbling out.

::wakes and quickly looks away from the crystal, but is too embarrased to look at the teacher or the boys around her::

The crystal is in shards and disappears.

Xander tightens his grip on her arm. "Whatever's going on in there, it's not real, Chiana. You've just gotta wake up, and it's gone."

((ooc - is out of touch until tomorrow morning, so feel free to assume Xander is being quietly supportive of whatever else anybody does.))
