Class 4: Magic

[OOC: Just so you know, if you're showing up and attempting the assignments, you're passing, no matter how bitchy Jareth gets about it. Sorry this is so late. I had crazy RL stuff to deal with. Also, if you haven't noticed by now, Jareth likes getting people's names wrong, on purpose.]

Today's Lecture:


"We've so far introduced manipulation and myth. Now I will introduce magic. How many of you think you know magic? Can you give me a definition?

Jareth waits, looking around the class.

"Magic is manipulating things and people in ways that others don't or can't. We are going to try an experiment." He twists his hands and a crystal appears.



Then a crystal appears in front of each of the students.

"This will show you your dreams--if you can manipulate it correctly. Too little, you will not see anything. Too far, and your dreams will seem like reality.

"Find partners and take turns...attempting to see. If your partner stops responding, raise your hand and we'll all take a little stroll into their dreams to fish them out."

"Sure. I had to do this type of thing at my old school. I wasn't an ace student in that class but I managed to pass."

*Paige smiles* So I'm meant to be seeing my dreams right? What do I do?

Draco stares at the crystal ball, trying to remember what his divination teacher taught him.

"Well, I think you need to concentrate--but also clear your mind. Kind of like...trying to daydream. I think. It's been a while since I've done this." he says offering an apolegetic smile

*Paige smiles and looks into the crystal ball*

*She tries to clear her mind and see something, then suddenly starts to worry* If I look like there's something wrong you'll be able to help me won't you *she almost calls him blondie, but manages to stop herself* Draco?

Draco smiles.
"Of course. You just have to remember it's not real."

*Paige smiles and nods*

*she takes a deep breath and look into the ball, she clears her mind and lets it wonder*

*A few moments later she sees something* her and her 2 sisters, much older all living together, everything's normal for a while then she sees some sort of monster attacking them

*she starts to shake, but she can't get out of the dream*

Draco's eyes get wide. He hadn't expected her to see anything. He grabs her by the shoulders and starts to shake her.
"Paige wake up! Paige!"

*Paige can hear Draco and tries to call to him, but she can't Draco!*

Draco looks around for the teacher but can't find him. He remembered what the teacher said about fishing the dreamer out. He touches Paige's hand thinking maybe thats what did it. But no. He then puts his finger on the crystal ball and it feels like something is pulling him toward it. It felt like grabbing hold of a portkey. He found himself in an unfamilar place and saw Paige, Piper and Phoebe being attacked. Ignoring the other two, they were just apparations, Draco grabs on to Paige.

"Wake up! This isn't real!" he yells.

*Paige is suprised to see Draco suddenly appear in her dream* You heard me? I was calling to you

"Well, I didn't hear you call to me, but in the real world you are shaking like mad in your chair. I was worried so I came here to get you to snap out of it. We need to get your mind back to class where it belongs rather than..."
He looks at the chaos behind him.

"...wherever the hell we are now." He says.

*Paige shakes her head trying to get her mind back into the classroom*

*She opens her eyes and sees Draco sitting next to her* D-did you just get me from whatever the hell that was?

Draco feels a little bit nauceous from going into the crystal ball. It was like a portkey in more ways than one.

"Well, you did it yourself. You just needed a little encouragement." he says softly.

*without thinking Paige hugs Draco* Oh god, sorry Drac, it's just, well I could have been stuck in there. What if I'm not been doing this with you *she takes a deep breath* Would I have been safe in there?

Draco stiffens up when Paige hugs him.

"Well, physically you would have been fine. But something like you were seeing could have definitly messed up your psyche if you were in there for a long time."

*Paige smiles at him* Well thanks for getting me out whatever, you're a good friend Draco

"It's alright Paige. I wouldn't have let anyone Well, mostly anyone be stuck in a situation like that."

Draco eyes the crystal ball. He could imagine all the death and horror that would appear in the ball. He didn't want Paige to see what he's really like.

"How about we just say I couldn't see anything? Because I think I've had enough crystal balls for today." he says with a smile.

*Paige smiles* yeah or we could just tell him I was too scared to let you do it or something if you like?

Draco smiles

"Yeah, I like that better. Gives me a shred of dignity." he laughs

*Paige moves slightly closer to Draco and whipsers to him* And you always did like being told to do didn't you?

"What can I say? I like aggressive women." he smiles

Jareth watches, but doesn't approach until after Draco and Paige have seemingly come back.

"It's not real," he tells her. "Not unless you let it be." He turns to Draco. "Your turn, Drago. She won't be able to see whatever it is you're so worried about. No one will be able to unless you fall into it and force me to come get you."
