Back from bio and it's time for more studying. War Theory to be exact.

Jack had managed to dodge most of the blackberry pies that had attempted to rain on him as he made his way from class to the library.

Really hoping none would appear in the library, he cautiously walked in. There were some bits of crust and the remnants of pie on his shoulder. "How come no one else is getting hit by pie?"

Isabel looked up from removing the happy face a ball point pen had scribbled on her hand. "Because we're too busy fighting off books and pens? And I don't know if Parker or Sam called you last night, but we all made it home safe."

"Well, okay, but pie? And I think one of my books was coming on to me yesterday." Distracted from the pie conundrum, Jack leaned on the desk and attempted to glare at her. Which was a dismal failure. "Yes, I woke up and there were messages from all three of you. You couldn't have managed a visit before you went off on your Thing"

"Was it a pirate/ninja book?" she grinned. "That wouldn't surprise me." Reaching over, Isabel tapped his nose. "Sorry, we ran out right after class. And it was only a matter of pulling someone out of a simple bar fight. So between all of us it was really nothing."

He wrinkled his nose at her. "It was. And I know. I wasn't worried with all three of you there." He grinned. "Though I did spare a moment of sympathy for everyone else at the bar."

"True, the guy Sam elbowed in the chest is probably feeling it this morning." Isabel looked down sheepishly. "So will it make you feel better if I tell you about tonight's trip in person?"

"Depends on what tonight's trip is" he said, amused at her sheepishness. "No, go on, tell me. I can take it."

"I'm going with Bel," she said. "To get his father's soul back."

"Uh huh." Jack drummed his fingers on the counter, considering her. "Could I get the expanded, makes-sense version now, please?"

"There's a demon in the Underworld who's managed to get hold of Bel's father's soul. Don't ask me how, I'm clueless when it comes to the magic stuff," Isabel explained quietly. "But he's been using it to blackmail Bel. If we can get the soul, then we can make it stop."

"His soul," Jack repeated doubtfully. "Okay. That's heading out of magic and into other territory. So you're going into the underworld to rescue a soul." He looked down, then back up with a small smile. "Ever thought about staying in at night and painting your toenails?"

Isabel laughed, "But that would be boring!"

Jack grinned at her. "Fair enough, it was just a thought. You'll be careful, right?"

"Always," she promised. "And I'll call you when I get back."

And then there was chocolate cream pie, falling out of no where.

"ACK!" Jack danced backwards and completely failed to avoid the pie. It landed on his head, slid down onto his shoulder with a pronounced gloop, then slowly oozed down the front of his body towards the floor.

He sighed and used both hands to wipe it out of his eyes. "See? Pie," he sighed, and tasted it. "Chocolate cream if I'm not mistaken."

Isabel scooped a gob off his shoulder with her finger and tasted it. "Yup, yummy. It's a different look for you."

Jack just rolled his eyes. "I think I'd have preferred to be attacked by pens. It's less messy," he said, then smiled wickedly. "Izzy, my sweet, lovely, wonderful Izzy. I think I need to give you a hug to show you how much I'll miss you while you're gone."

He held his arms wide and stepped towards her.

Stepping backwards, Isabel held out her hands to ward him off. "Oh no, no way!!! I have to be here all day!"

Jack kept coming forward, laughing at her expression. "It's only pie. It'll come off," he told her. "Come on, give Jack a hug."

"But I'll be sticky! For several hours! And that's not fun!" she protested, still stepping backwards. "I'm sorry Jack, but for once I have to turn you down!"

He sighed and let his arms fall, flashing her a woebegone expression, before carefully backtracking to his original spot. "Maybe I could have a towel? Or something? And I'll go and scrape this pie off outside."

She didn't have a towel, but she did have a roll of paper towels, usually reserved for snacking library aides. "Here," Isabel said, pushing the roll towards him. "This should help. Have you considered getting an umbrella?"

He grinned and took the roll of paper towels, then walked carefully to the front door. Once he was outside, he scraped off as much pie as he could. "I have, but I'm not sure that would help," he said as he came back inside. "Knowing Fandom, they'd just start raining up, or from inside the umbrella, and then I'd look even dumber than I do now."

"You look adorable. Edible even," she grinned. "Perhaps you should find a thingie?"

"I'd offer you a taste, but that way lies madness," he said with a laugh. "And that's a thought. Being covered in pie wouldn't be so bad if..." and he trailed off, staring into space with a smile on his face.

"Perhaps if you had a spoon?" Isabel laughed. "Go! Get yourself cleaned up. I'll call you when I get back tonight."

"I'm gone. And it'd be much for fun if they used their hands. Or...nevermind." He grinned at her, then said seriously, "Keep yourself safe. I don't want have to do an Orpheus and come looking for you."

Isabel snickered. "Yes, nevermind! TMI!" She reached out and caught his hand, squeezing it. "I will. Promise."

"You'd better," he said, holding her hand for a moment, before pulling away. "Come and find me when it's done," he said as he left the library.

He'd only made it a few steps when a series of pecan pies bounced down around him. "Stupid pies."

Isabel laughed out loud. A thesaurus took the opportunity to bop her on the head.

Still in the library. Also, starting to flail a little. At one point she becomes very concerned with relating something to a previous book, and so she goes through her bag and can't find the book. After a definite flail, she finds the book in front of her.

Her final for Lit is a practical.
