Krycek was there before class started, drinking coffee and looking over the helpful notes Vader had left for his use. He was getting rather used to having classes abandoned to his care partway through the curriculum.

As soon as everyone was seated, he stood up and got everyone's attention. "Some of you may have noticed that your Ethics teacher isn't here, and as much as you might miss him, I decided to forego wearing the bucket over my head just to console you.

"Continuing from last week, we're talking about a new set of the Seven Deadly Sins," he said, pointing to the board where they were written in large, neat lettering. "Lust, sloth and greed - or avarice, if you prefer. Dictionary definition is, of course, available in the dictionary down in the library if you don't know what that means."

Krycek shrugged at everyone. "Since I'm not exactly going to be inspiring the kind of discussion we've been having in this class so far, why don't we just make Vader a point of discussion. Was it one of these sins that contributed to his amazing lack of sense of humor? Which of these three your vice of choice?"

"Astray from what?" Krycek arched an eyebrow.

"From the path they think they're on," River replied. "Not the same path."

"But if a person is that easily led astray, then are they really that dedicated to their path? How is that his fault?"

"I didn't say easily led astray. And yes, everyone has a moral responibility for their actions."

"If a person is led astray from a path at all, who's to say it was the right one for them?" Krycek spread his hands. "Doesn't one have a personal responsibility to stick to what they want no matter the outside influence?"

"Personal responsibility doesn't make it right to influence others in a ways they would not chose themselves, without encouragement."

"So encouragement is wrong? Attempting to influence others is bad?" Krycek was aware this was probably more than a little annoying.

River was getting bored. She rolled her eyes at him and hid under the desk.

No, she wasn't scared. Just bored. And it did amuse her just a little to see what Krycek would think.

Krycek blinked and watched her go. Mostly he just thought she was weird, but he didn't exactly blame her. He moved on when she didn't seem to want to talk anymore, finding someone else to badger instead.
