Thanksgiving- The cafeteria- Thursday, 4 pm onwards

Once the food is cooked, it's time to set it out, and start yelling at people to get their butts down to dinner.

There's a full spread, complete with all the traditional Thanksgiving stuff. Turkey, sides, and all the fun dessert stuff will be brought out later. There's a cooler full of drinks (non-alcoholic, as hi, Jaye did invite the principal) and everything should be good. And if it isn't... eh. Deal.

Willow made herself a big plate of turkey and stuffing and then took a seat to enjoy.

Vegetables were not a Thanksgiving requirement in her opinion.

TYyler raised an eyebrow at her. "I'm not blowing anything up," he said.

It was kind of his standard greeting where Willow was concerned.

"For which I am thankful," Willow replied. She grinned. "See how I tied that into today's theme?"

"I'm impressed," Tyler said, taking a forkful of mashed potatoes. "Anything else you're thankful for?"

"That nobody can tell I spit into the mashed potatoes," Willow replied, innocently.

Tyler almost spit out his own mashed potatoes at that, but coolly swallowed. "Foodservice workers," he said, "are the small-scale terrorists of the everyday world."

"I dunno," Willow said. "A well-aimed pomegranete to the eye could be pretty large scale on the damage side."

Tyler considered this. "I never really thought about that," he said. "But it's not subtle enough. Pomegranate to the eye is a kamikaze move."

"Fair point," Willow said. "I didn't actually spit in the potatoes by the way. I can't swear that nobody else didn't because I wasn't on potato duty, but Peter was so he probably kept an eye out. Plus we had Alanna threatening to stab people."

"Redheads with knives are a scary combination," Tyler said. "Did you spit in anything else?"

"Only the sink this morning when I brushed my teeth," Willow promised. "My cookies and brownies are also free of anything other than cookie and brownie goodness."

"We appreciate that," Tyler said, deciding not to point out how easy it was to hide ground cockroaches in baked goods. "How'd you learn to bake?"

"Self-taught," Willow said. "There was a lot of experimentation. Narrowing the ingredient list to edible items was a huge step."

Peter slid into the seat next to her. "Well-balanced meal," he said with grin.

"It is," Willow said, pointing to her plate. "See how the gravy evens everything out so that one side doesn't tip over? That takes skill."

"Seriously, I'm impressed," Peter replied, still grinning. "Now I've grown up around knights so I know that takes skill.

"Lucky for you I'm already your girlfriend," Willow teased. "Otherwise this sort of thing is liable to make some guy snatch me right up."

Peter leaned over to kiss her on the cheek. "Best girlfriend ever."

"I know!" Willow said, glad he agreed with her. "Did people make socks for trumpets so often that it needed to come up?"

Peter chuckled. "You need to look it up in one of those dictionaries that tells how the phrase originated."

"Maybe it was from a marriage between a seamstress and a musician," Willow said. "Their love trancended both their professions and their idioms."
