Library [11/15]

Bridge, fully recovered and armed with coffee, shuffles in to the library to open it right on time.

"I wonder what that'd look like, when you're manipulating it?" Bridge says contemplatively.

Zuko shrugged again. "I don't know." He was so helpful.

"I think we should try it and see!" Bridge bounces in his seat a little.

The bouncing was a little bit disturbing and reminded him of that Blair kid. "Do you need to do anything special to see it?" Zuko asked.

"Just take off a glove," Bridge says, holding up a hand and wiggling his fingers.

"Okay," Zuko gave Bridge a sceptical look. "Do it."

"Okay, ready." Bridge says, taking off a glove and holding one hand up towards Zuko, focusing on the other boy's aura.

Zuko wasn't entirely sure how Bridge was doing the reading with his hands, but he was too curious not to give it a go. Taking a deep breath, he created a flame in the palm of his hand. He doubted the principal would appreciate it if he created a fireball in the library. Or set off the sprinklers for that matter.

Bridge watches, fascinated as he follows the path of the tiny tendril of energy through Zuko's body and out into his palm where it became the flame. "I can see it!" he reports.

"What does it look like?" Zuko asked curiously. "I can only sense the energy."

"It's white," Bridge says, "and it looks... like a really bright spark of electricity, until it gets here," he taps his own palm. "And becomes the flame."

Zuko extinguished the flame and looked down at his palm. "Interesting," he decided. "Can you teach someone to see energy?"

"I've never tried," Bridge admits. "Then again, I've never known anyone who could even sense it at all."

"All firebenders can," Zuko said. "Do you meditate?"

Bridge nods. "It helps me focus."

"Yeah," Bridge says. "Aly- um, the Spying teacher- had me do meditation in order to get tighter control over them."

"I know her," Zuko replied quickly. "I wasn't aware that she knew about meditation."

"She is. She's been helping me train," Bridge explains.

"She's a strange teacher," Zuko decided.

"I think that could apply to like, half the teachers here," Bridge points out.
