fandomhigh | Criminal Justice [first period, Tuesday 11/14]

Students had been ~~handwave~~ alerted to the fact that the class would be held in the Danger Shop today, and so V was waiting for them when they all filed in.

"Good morning," V said as the simulation immediately placed them in the spacious, white lobby of a building. "Today, we'll be doing a tactical simulation. You and the partner you chose last week have a mission: to find the control room at the top of the tower. In it, there is a ticking device, which will have quite an impact on the entire city if you don't stop it. And no, the lifts aren't working. Your mission, young ones, is to make your way to the control room while dodging guards and personnel, and disengage the device using only your available resources, and to do so by the end of the period."

He tilted his head. "And for now, that means wits and no weapons, though you all do get maps of the building. Oh, and a final thing. The building is not empty. This is a business. The civilians haven't any idea what's going on, though, and you mustn't panic them. You may, however, ask them for assistance in such a way as to not alert them to the situation."

V clapped his hands once, and then retreated to fully start the simulation. He didn't want to be in it, if old friends showed up.

"It's all very... white, isn't it?" Dean asked coming up behind Alec.

"Not easy on the eyes," Alec agreed, turning to look at his double. "You ready?"

Dean grinned. "Always. We just going to walk in like we're meant to be there or try something more sneaky?"

He shrugged, shoving his hands in his pockets as he thought about it. "Best way I know is to take the service stairs."

Dean looked over to where the entrace to the stairs were. "Works for me."

Alec bowed, one hand making a sweeping gesture towards the door. "After you."

Dean grinned and made his way over to the door, opening it and stepping into the stairwell.

"Should be a cakewalk from here," Alec said, making sure the door closed behind them before starting up the stairs on Dean's heels.

Dean glanced over his shoulder at Alec. "That's the kind of thing that will jinx us."

Alec snorted and leapt to the next landing easily, giving Dean a cocky look over his shoulder. "Dude, that suggests we need luck to do this."

"Showoff," Dean muttered as he made the landing at a more human speed. "We don't need luck, but it always makes things easier."

"So we rely on skill," Alec said, and decided to be doubly annoying and take the entirety of the next set of stairs in one jump. "C'mon, man, we'll be running up all day."

Dean scowled at him as he actually used the stairs between the landings. "You're really asking for it, you know that don't you?"

"What, because I'm bored?" Alec waited for Dean to mostly catch up before moving entirely too far ahead again.

A door off the landing opened, and a young woman with her arms full of papers and a tray of tea burst through, nearly running into Alec. "Sorry," she stammered, dropping papers and trying not to spill tea.

"Whoa!" Fresh off a jump, Alec windmilled his arms slightly as he tried to catch his balance - and once he'd done that, he reached out to help her tray. "Sorry about that, miss."

"Not your fault," she said, trying to regain her own balance. "I wasn't looking. Though you shouldn't run in here. Or whatever you were doing."

She glanced up, finally, and smiled a little before looking past Alec to Dean. "Oh, goodness, twins. Are you going to be on the news?"

"Uh, yeah," Dean said, coming up behind Alec and giving the girl his best ingratiating smile as he lied through his teeth. "You'll have to forgive my brother, he gets a little hyper when he's nervous."

Evey smiled. "Don't be nervous, either of you. If you're going to be on the news, surely you've done something to ensure you'll be all right, even if there are...two of you."

"You get used to having a double after a while. And you know what they say -- two heads are better than one."

Evey laughed a little shyly. "So what did you two do to make the news?"

What? They were cuter than Daddy Dietrich, after all.

"Oh, it's nothing big," Alec said modestly, grinning at her. "Just, you know, got someone's attention, and now here we are."

"Good attention?" she asked, lowering her voice a little worriedly.

"Of course," Dean said with conviction. "It's all good."

"Good. You never know these days," Evey said, clearly relieved. "Um, I'd best get back to work before I get snapped at. Best of luck."
