Friday Assembly/Recital

The auditorium stage has been transformed into a series of moving sets and curtains. After the students and faculty take their seats Lorne steps out and waves to the crowd. "Hey all you groovy cats and kittens out there! Thanks for coming today! All my music students are very excited to perform for you today and can't wait to get things started. So without any more delay? Let's light this firecracker!"

"Are we going to end up drenched this week, do you think?" Luke asked.

"I don't mind if it's water," Peter replied. "But if we get drenched in jello or slime, I'm going to be disturbed."

"There are worse things to be drenched with," a voice said from a previously empty chair next to Peter.

Peter jumped slightly. "Quiet, aren't you? I don't disagree, but I'm trying to stay on the positive and wacky side of things."

"Quiet as a cat." He glanced at Peter. "You've fought with swords. Have you ever been... drenched?"

Peter looked at Schrodinger appraisingly. "I've fought, yes."

"For my people," Peter replied. "What do you mean in what?"

"A battle. A skirmish. A streetfight. A war?"

"All of the above actually," Peter said. "I was knighted in battle four years ago and have been fighting ever since."

"Very interesting," Schrodigner said. "So you are a knight. Do you lead, or do you follow?"

"Both," Peter replied. "I lead my men and I follow the advice of my generals."

Luke wrinkled up his nose and gave the ceiling a concerned glance. "That would be bad."

"Who knows, maybe we'll get lucky and it'll rain marshmellows," Peter pointed out.

"...what's a marshmallow?" Luke asked.

"It's a sugar candy," Peter said. "You toast it over a fire, and it gets all gooey."

"Ooooh," Luke said, looking up at the ceiling again. "It would be worth getting gooey for?"

"They're not gooey when they're not heated up. They're like little balls of sugar." He grinned. "Though definitely worth getting gooey for."

"Sign me up for sugar from the sky, then," Luke replied. "Do you think our classmates can sing?"

"Marie can..." Peter said. "I hope some of the others can too."

"Otherwise this'll be longer than the self-esteem assembly," Luke said, making himself comfortable in his seat.

"If it gets too long, we could try to set off the sprinklers ourselves," Peter pointed out.

"That is an excellent back-up plan," Luke said. "Do you do anything musical?"
