Friday Assembly/Recital

The auditorium stage has been transformed into a series of moving sets and curtains. After the students and faculty take their seats Lorne steps out and waves to the crowd. "Hey all you groovy cats and kittens out there! Thanks for coming today! All my music students are very excited to perform for you today and can't wait to get things started. So without any more delay? Let's light this firecracker!"

"...what's a marshmallow?" Luke asked.

"It's a sugar candy," Peter said. "You toast it over a fire, and it gets all gooey."

"Ooooh," Luke said, looking up at the ceiling again. "It would be worth getting gooey for?"

"They're not gooey when they're not heated up. They're like little balls of sugar." He grinned. "Though definitely worth getting gooey for."

"Sign me up for sugar from the sky, then," Luke replied. "Do you think our classmates can sing?"

"Marie can..." Peter said. "I hope some of the others can too."

"Otherwise this'll be longer than the self-esteem assembly," Luke said, making himself comfortable in his seat.

"If it gets too long, we could try to set off the sprinklers ourselves," Peter pointed out.

"That is an excellent back-up plan," Luke said. "Do you do anything musical?"

"Not well," Peter replied with a grin. "You?"

"I can play the banthabell," Luke said, "but that doesn't actually involve any kind of skill."

"You have to keep on beat at least," Peter pointed out.

"It depends on how much Jawa Juice everyone else has been drinking," Luke said with a snicker.

Peter laughed. "Is that when the dancing turns into people falling into each other?"

"Exactly!" Luke said. "But in a rhythmic way, of course."

"But of course!" Peter said. "I thought that part was obvious." He grinned. "Wonder if we're going to get rhythmic falling into each other up there?" He gestured to the stage.

"If I had to perform, I'd be loading up on the Jawa Juice early," Luke admitted.

Peter shrugged. "I'd rather not, but it wouldn't bother me. It's no different than any other speech or performance."

"I'm not a big fan of either of those things," Luke said, scooting further down in his chair.

"One does get used to it," Peter said. He grinned. "Thankfully not today though."

"True," Luke said, grinning back. "Looks like we're about to start."

"Finally payback to Parker," Peter replied as Lorne came onto the stage.
