Ethics [Thursday, October 26, 6th period]

Vader swept into the room precisely on time, the door slamming behind him like usual. "I trust that your time with your relatives was excruciating and uncomfortable. I do not care about your problems to begin with, and if you try to use them as an excuse for why your assignment is not complete, I will not care even more." The leather creaked in his gloves. "So don't try it." It wasn't a suggestion.

He paced in front of the classroom. "While I am interviewing you all separately--" the menace in his voice was completely intentional, "--the rest of the class will be discussing the Golden Rule. 'Do unto others as you would have done unto you.'" Vader snorted. "Hopelessly naive way to live your life or useful philosophy?"

It was very obvious which option Vader preferred.

He pointed towards the first student. "Let's begin."

She frowns, thinking about it. "I had to guide him more than I do some others, but I'm sure it's something he could get over with more experience and a better comfort level."

Aeryn has no idea when she started thinking like this.

"How would you go about making him more comfortable?" Vader asked.

"I'm not sure. There's history there I have no way to deal with. If I ever find a way, I'd utilize it," she answers.

Vader nodded. "Utilizing all of your tools is essential," he said. "It's what makes the difference between a mediocre and a great leader."

She kind of blinks at him. "I try," she says, and it freaks her the hell out that she just had to bite back a sir. It's the standard response she'd give to anyone who said that, and it just so happens that everyone who's said that sort of thing to her has been a commanding officer. And if she thinks too hard on that right now, she's not going to sleep tonight.

Vader barely stopped himself from saying "There is no try." This was getting entirely too close to a normal conversation for his comfort.

"Go sit back down, Miss Sun."
