Ethics [Thursday, October 26, 6th period]

Vader swept into the room precisely on time, the door slamming behind him like usual. "I trust that your time with your relatives was excruciating and uncomfortable. I do not care about your problems to begin with, and if you try to use them as an excuse for why your assignment is not complete, I will not care even more." The leather creaked in his gloves. "So don't try it." It wasn't a suggestion.

He paced in front of the classroom. "While I am interviewing you all separately--" the menace in his voice was completely intentional, "--the rest of the class will be discussing the Golden Rule. 'Do unto others as you would have done unto you.'" Vader snorted. "Hopelessly naive way to live your life or useful philosophy?"

It was very obvious which option Vader preferred.

He pointed towards the first student. "Let's begin."

"I didn't have anything new to teach them," Sam shrugged.

"Perhaps they could have shared in your fashion sense from last week," Vader said.

He was trying to make a joke.

He wasn't that good at it.

Sam almost gave him a funny look, then remembered who she was talking to and didn't. "Seely was a puppet. That wins. And I had no idea you liked bunnies, pink or otherwise."

"My opinions on bunnies shouldn't matter," Vader snapped. "And I'm certain that Mr. Booth could not teach someone how to be a puppet. You could have led them in some form of hopping exercise, though."

"Except for the part where I wasn't a real bunny, yes, I could have absolutely done that."

"I'm aware you weren't an actual bunny," Vader growled. "I've heard of the exploits of Mr. Echolls." He paused. "Was there a reason you were dressed in that manner, or was it just past time to do laundry?"

Vader had a sense of humor? Weird. "I was accosted by the beautification committee." Which reminded her that she had to get revenge on Jamie at some point.

"And you couldn't have trained your apprentices to hurt Mr. Madrox?" Vader sounded disappointed.

"I could have," Sam admitted, "but it takes some of the satisfaction out of getting revenge if I farm it out to underlings."

Yes, she'd been taught revenge by a Jaffa. It was their thing.

"Show them how to make revenge memorable," Vader said, "rather than delegate the important parts."

"True," Sam hedged, unable to believe she was agreeing with Vader. "What would you do as revenge for a bunny suit? That doesn't involve death, dismemberment, or torture?"

Vader paused. Those three were his go-to choices. "Detention?" he suggested weakly.

"Hmmmmm." Sam wasn't overly impressed. "That's all you've got?"

"I've always found that making public examples of someone serves as an effective form of deterrence," Vader said.

Granted, it was usually a public execution...
