The Fandom High Tour! Saturday afternoon

At 1:00, The Tick was standing outside the school doors, waiting for any family or friends who may show up. Once they had a good group and it didn't seem like anyone else was coming, Tick said, "Well, I think that's everyone! Hello, and welcome to Fandom High! I am The Tick, Dean of Students here, and I will be your Virgil as we descend into the Seven Circles that we call school!"

The Tick thought for a moment. "Not that I'm suggesting that this school is the underworld. I was really just going with the concept of the Guide character in classic literature. Anyway, let's head on in! And if you have any questions, please ask!"

[OOC: After I get all of the OCD up, I'll be heading to work for a few hours. I shall be slow, but available to have Tick answer any questions.

This is a half-play post, half-linkdrop. Teachers who are not specifically linked to in the OCD, if you could post a link to your classroom or office post in the Classrooms OOC thread, that would be appreciated. Parents can break away from the tour to talk to those any teachers. The tour will go slowly enough to not lose people.

Parents, you can ping in wherever you might have something specific to comment on, or wherever you might talk to someone about something. Considering how many threads there are, though, and how many people may be in here, I wouldn't mind if comments that just check into the room thread are left out for the sakes of everyone's browsers.

There is also a general mingling in the dorm lobby thread if anyone wants to end the tour in another big group meeting. :) ]

Summer wandered into the lobby, grinning when she spotted Shawn. "Hey."

"Summer, hey," Shawn greeted her and made his way over to her. He beamed broadly, definitely a girl he wants to see. "Parent visitation going well for you?"

"Not really going at all," Summer said, frowning slightly. "My dad wasn't able to make it."

"Damn, I'm sorry, that kinda blows. What happened?" Shawn asked. He risked a quick glance over her shoulder just to make sure Nikki wasn't within sight, before focussing his attention back on Summer.

"He was called in to help with a surgery, so it's for a good reason," Summer said. She smiled. "But hey, now I'm here with you, so I'm already feeling better."

He chuckled, "Glad to hear your day's improving. See my mom didn't even give me an excuse that worthwhile," Shawn said. "She works in marketing, so it can't have been life or death."

He gestured at the punch, "You want a drink or anything?"

"I don't even know where my mom is at the moment," Summer said. She shook her head, not wanting to talk about negative things. "Um, yeah sure. Drink would be good."

Shawn nods, moving on from the bad things by going to pour her a glass of punch. It's only once he's poured it and is about to hand it back to Summer that he notices Nikki seems to have finally found her way back to the lobby.

"Uhh," he pulled a face. "I have a little admission to make," he said quickly.

"Admission?" Summer repeated. "Like what?"

"Like, uh, Nikki is over there," he said pointing vaguely in the direction of the door. "And, before you meet her, you should know, we kinda dated," he added uncomfortably. "Really, really briefly, and it is very definitely over, just... I thought you should know that."

Summer blinked. "Oh...um, okay."

That was unexpected.

He suddenly realised he was still holding her drink, and offered it to her. "I know I probably should have mentioned that before," he said quickly. "I just... was kinda hoping maybe she wouldn't show," Shawn admitted.

Summer took the drink from him and then raised her eyebrow. "So, uh, I'm guessing things didn't really end well? Since you hoped she didn't show and all."

The petty part of Summer really hoped it didn't end well.

"Uh, no... not so well," Shawn said, deciding not to elaborate. He glanced back over at Nikki who seemed to have finally noticed them, "and uh, now I think you get to meet her," he finished.

'Oh, hi Shawn!' Nikki said brightly, walking over to him.

A little too late she noticed who he was talking to. 'Um, hi,' she said, sticking out her hand and gazing at the girl curiously. 'I'm Nikki.'

"Summer," she replied, cautiously taking the other girl's hand. "Nice to, um, meet you."

She had to be polite, right?

Nikki was trying really hard to be nice.

'How do you and Shawn know each other?' she asked.

Shawn can already see that this conversation is going to a bad place, and goes to intervene. Not that he's sure how much it'll help.

"Uh, Summer and I went to homecoming, together," Shawn said. He smiled encouragingly at Summer, and added, "and there's class, of course."

"Yes, homecoming. Where we had a really good time." If it seemed like she was trying to rub that in a little, well, it was probably a coincidence. Maybe.

'Oh, did you?' Nikki asked, somewhat frostily.

She looked at Summer in a much less friendly way. 'So, do you two take Health together?'

Shawn stepped in at that point. "Yeah, we do." He suddenly wished very much that he'd never talked about his classes this week with Nikki.

'That's nice,' said Nikki. 'Do you do practical classes?'

She wasn't about to let the whole Health thing go.

"Health is practical!" Summer said, taking offense for some reason. "We learn important things in that class like...sex ed."

'I don't think Shawn needs that,' said Nikki. 'In my experience, anyway.'

Shawn spluttered into his drink, this was so not going his way. At all. He still can't quite beieve Nikki said that.

"I uh," he cleared his throat. "Nikki... nevermind," he muttered, suddenly very interested in the floor.
