fandomhigh | The Fandom High Tour! Saturday afternoon

At 1:00, The Tick was standing outside the school doors, waiting for any family or friends who may show up. Once they had a good group and it didn't seem like anyone else was coming, Tick said, "Well, I think that's everyone! Hello, and welcome to Fandom High! I am The Tick, Dean of Students here, and I will be your Virgil as we descend into the Seven Circles that we call school!"

The Tick thought for a moment. "Not that I'm suggesting that this school is the underworld. I was really just going with the concept of the Guide character in classic literature. Anyway, let's head on in! And if you have any questions, please ask!"

[OOC: After I get all of the OCD up, I'll be heading to work for a few hours. I shall be slow, but available to have Tick answer any questions.

This is a half-play post, half-linkdrop. Teachers who are not specifically linked to in the OCD, if you could post a link to your classroom or office post in the Classrooms OOC thread, that would be appreciated. Parents can break away from the tour to talk to those any teachers. The tour will go slowly enough to not lose people.

Parents, you can ping in wherever you might have something specific to comment on, or wherever you might talk to someone about something. Considering how many threads there are, though, and how many people may be in here, I wouldn't mind if comments that just check into the room thread are left out for the sakes of everyone's browsers.

There is also a general mingling in the dorm lobby thread if anyone wants to end the tour in another big group meeting. :) ]

Shawn spluttered into his drink, this was so not going his way. At all. He still can't quite beieve Nikki said that.

"I uh," he cleared his throat. "Nikki... nevermind," he muttered, suddenly very interested in the floor.

"Oh...uh...." Summer suddenly had no words.

Nikki couldn't quite believe she'd said that.

'I, uh...' Change the subject, quickly. 'So, what do you, I mean, well, tell me about Fandom.'

That was a little bit safer.

"It's a weird town," Summer managed to say.

"With some weird people in it," Shawn continued. "Did I mention the jello monsters yet?" he asked Nikki.

Yeah, that would get them far, far away from bad topics. How can you go wrong on that?

'Jello monsters?' Nikki asked, eyes wide. 'You never said anything about them.'

Yes, this was a safe topic. She was absolutely not thinking about beaches.

"Guess he didn't mention everyone randonly turning monochrome a few weeks ago, either, huh?" Summer shook her head. "Like I said, weird town."

'Yeah, Shawn didn't mention much. I think he thought he'd scare me off,' Nikki said, managing a smile.

'Erm, has anything else like that happened lately?'

"It's been pretty calm around here lately, compared to the summer," Shawn said tapping a finger against the glass in his hand. "Probably means we're about due for something major to go down."

Summer grinned. "This time, you have to take responsibility if anything happens."

"At least I wasn't specific," Shawn chuckled. "It can't be traced back to me, quite as easily."

Nikki grinned. 'So you're still getting into trouble here? Sounds familiar. Have you been using your gift to get out of it?'

Summer blinked and then stared at Shawn. "Your gift? Wait, you have a super power too?"

"Ah, I wouldn't call it a super power," he said quickly, "not really... and I only did it once, and that was by accident!"

Shawn? Currently flailing inwardly. He's looking distinctly uncomfortable about they way this is going down.

"So what is this gift anyway?" Summer said quietly. "And why didn't you tell me?"

"I uh," he paused uncomfortably and decided to tackle the latter question first. "Not many people really know about it. At all."

Shawn stopped himself from concentrating on his drink to look up at Summer. "I can heal... things, most things," he said holding his hands out and waving his fingers a little.

Summer looked down sadly. "You coulda told me, you know. I mean, I wasn't gonna go run off screaming or something."

"Oh, no. God, I know that, I do," Shawn was stumbling to explain himself, which, not so easy. He gave Nikki a panicked glance, and she seemed to take that as her cue to go re-fill her drink.

"I just, I suck..." he managed rubbing a hand over his forehead. "A lot sometimes, and have gotten into this bad habit of keeping everything to myself. Considering everything we see around here I probably, definitely shouldn't be so weird about it, I just... am," he finished lamely.

Summer finally managed a smile. "You really can talk to me. I won't judge you."

A few months ago, she might have.

"Thats good to know," Shawn said giving her a small hopeful smile back. "The government, people back home, they weren't quite as accepting as you are."

Summer frowned. "Are you in danger back home?"

"Uh, not..." Shawn paused rubbing his glass between his fingers. "Never specifically, but other people like me have been targeted."

"We're not exactly a popular bunch as a rule. Technically, I'm not supposed to tell anyone what I am, and if NTAC really knew what I could do..." He shook his head, "I'd be back in quarantine being prodded and poked before I could do anything about it."

Summer frowned again. "So, is this NTAC a government thing or something? Never did trust those types."

"A section of it, yeah. My uncle works for them, and I still don't trust them," Shawn said. "What comes of six months locked in a containment room by them, I think."

"You were locked in a containment room for six months?!"
