Blair realized in Prophecy class that he still hadn't apologized to Sam, so he tracked him down in the library and tried to curtail his bouncing. "Uh...Sam?"
"Hey." Blair smiled back and gave a bounce before remembering what he was supposed to be doing. "I'm really sorry about that sign last week. It was totally out of line and not true. I really shouldn't have made it."
Sam couldn't help but look Blair over like he was checking him for some kind of sickness. "Really? I mean, not that I don't agree with you, but...thanks."
"Really, man." Blair shook his head. "I let my temper get the best of me. I don't really believe that about you guys. I mean, I still don't agree with the whole killing people things, but I know you aren't murderers and you believe in what you're doing."
"I really appreciate hearing that," Sam replied. "I probably shouldn't have let my temper get ahold of me either. Just because I believe in what we're doing doesn't mean I actually like doing it," he admitted. "But I'm glad you don't really think we're murderers."
Sam shrugged. "I don't know exactly. I mean, I like the helping people aspect of it all. But I just don't get as much of a thrill out of the act of hunting as Dean and my dad do. That's why they're the ones who usually do the actual dirty work, and I stick to the research part."
"Probably. But the fact that I don't enjoy hunting doesn't mean I don't have to go along and do it. Every job is a chance for my dad to enforce more real-life practice and experience that might be helpful later, even if all I end up doing is watching."
"I hear that." Blair may not have understood the whole hunting thing, but Naomi was no stranger to dragging her kid along to things she felt he needed to experience. "Parents are weird sometimes."
"And some are definitely more weird than others," Sam agreed. "I figure my dad can only make me tag along for a few more years. Then I'll be old enough that he won't be able to make me do anything unless I want to."
"Maybe I'll just have to get some practice in before then," he said, laughing softly to himself. "And I don't think Dean will be saying no, so it's not like I'd be leaving my dad to fend for himself. He and Dean can do anything when they work together."
"Lots of time before you grow up." Blair laughed and nodded. "Okay, I'll see you later, man. I'm going to go down and get a front row seat for when everyone's parents show up."
