Rory smiles as she opens the library, and is actually kind of awake-ish for the first time in a long while.

Alec walked in and up to the desk, figuring it was just easier if he asked for what he was looking for rather than wander around on his own trying to reason out their weird book-sorting system. "Rory, hi!"

"Alec, hi!" she replied, waving a green highlighter. "What brings you in here where the books live?"

"I need a couple of them," he told her cheerfully. "And I thought it'd be easier just to ask instead of wandering around."

"Much more productive," she agreed, setting her homework aside. "What can I help you find?"

"Books on origami," he said, nodding. "Because I suddenly find myself wanting to know how to fold a paper crane. Or maybe a penguin."

Rory arched a brow, but went to look up origami books in the computer. "Any reason why?"

"Might as well have something to do while I'm in hiding," he explained.

"...hiding?"

"For the weekend." He gave her a solemn look. "If anyone shows up looking for me? I've never been here."

"Of course," Rory said, smiling a little bit. "I thought you ran away. It's not as though anyone would be getting a newsletter or something, right?"

"You never know around here," Alec said seriously. "I'd rather not take the chance and be caught by surprise, you know? I'll just be hiding for the weekend until it looks like I'm in the clear."

Rory nodded, writing something down off the computer screen. "Whereabouts? Maybe I'll visit. My dad cancelled so it's not like I have anyone coming."

"Jaye and I will be in the basement," he said, voice lowered and leaning in with an intent look. "Bring candy. And maybe something to do, 'cause right now all we've got is Operation and origami."

"I'll do what I can. I have quite the candy stash," Rory assured him confidentially, and handed over the slip of paper. "You'll find those over there in the 780's."

"Thanks!" Alec grinned at her. "I appreciate it." He saluted her jauntily and went off to find his books.
