Rory bustled into the library a bit sleepily, and took her place behind the desk with her massive cup of coffee and her reading for Literature for the week.

"Sleepless and meh." Parker debated with herself, then gave up. "Listened to the Radio recently?"

"Maybe," Rory said, going back to her notes. "Do you want me to have listened to it and to thusly offer comfort and chocolate and et cetera, or are you sick of that from people and so would like to pretend that I have no idea why you're sleepless and meh?"

Parker smiled in relief. "Both? Thank you, I don't want to explain it again, I'm completely sick of it even though it still hurts. Although if you have good ideas on how to keep a cat and bunny from tormenting each other, I'm completely up for that."

"Keep them in separate rooms," Rory advised. "I have no idea. My experience lies with puppies and turtles."

"Mmph." Parker put her head down on the counter. "Totally aside from all my emotional crap? They're keeping me awake. I may have to invest in earplugs. Or find someone who speaks bunny." She yawned. "I'm guessing Yoda never accused Vladdie of bogarting his toys, hunh."

"Not that I heard. But Yoda's not the most, um, playful turtle, either."

"Mmph." Parker didn't raise her head. "Joy." She did turn it to look at Rory. "Time table. On my sanity returning, after being dumped. Got one?" That's all she's going to ask. Seriously. Because as soon as feeling like this is over, she's going to Vegas, and taking everyone who wants to go with her.

Rory shrugged. "I've only been dumped in person once. I'm hardly an expert."

Parker studied her a moment, then almost smiled. "But it did return, at some point. That's encouraging." She lifted her head to perch it in her hands, and said, "Homecoming with Bridge? That's cool."

"Yeah," Rory said, coloring a tiny, tiny bit. "We cheer each other up, so at least neither of us will be very depressed tomorrow."

"A good thing. For both of you. I'm glad." Parker made a face. "I'm going with Booth, God help me. And She'd better, if Callisto goes on a tear again. I said I'd keep her from hurting him, or at least try."

"Can you keep her from hurting me?" Rory asked wryly.

Blinking, Parker said, "I didn't think I'd have to? But sure. Why would she be gunning for you, though?"

"I told her to go to LA."

And that takes only a second to sink in, before Parker's head is hitting the library counter again. She's almost, almost laughing. "Oh, Rory. Oh, wow."

"I didn't know she'd end up unhappy," Rory said defensively.

"Yeaaaahhh." Parker looks up from the counter, and rolls her eyes. "It was worth a shot, I guess. A longshot, but..." Angel's crush probably ended the odds before Callisto ever got there. "Better than her being in Greece, if she lets it be. Feel free to hide behind me and Booth, though. It's the least he can do."

"I'm sticking to Bridge," Rory replied. "Cal likes him. Maybe it's like sanctuary."

"Much better plan," Parker decides. She straightened up, rolled her shoulders. "She'd never hurt Bridge. And she's only here for the weekend. Ohh. That reminds me that I need to sharpen my Jimmy Choos for Angel-thwapping. He so has some hits to the head coming."

"Why?" Rory asked, frowning. "He's been good."

Parker did finally grin at this, a wicked slice of a smirk. "Angel's always good. And he's always, always screwing up. It's a month since I talked to him. I'll know if he needs a shoe to the head the second I see him. Any bets?"

"Leave him alone," Rory said poutily. "He's been very good to me lately."

"Awwww," Parker pouted back at her. "Fine. Until Sunday, then. I'll give him some leeway for coming back when others won't." Quiet a second, she went on in a lighter voice, "It'll be a good weekend. Even if Callisto does go on the warpath."

"She'll be happy to be back, I hope."

"We can but dream." Parker picked up her books, and reached for sunglasses that weren't there, then caught herself. "Back to the Bio. Study and contemplation cure all ills. And I'll talk to you later." And what those don't cure, vengeance or violence eventually do.
