Music is Love: [9/26] Period 7

As the students come into the classroom they'll see that Lorne is on the stage fiddling with the karaoke machine.

"Hey kittens! Sorry about class last week," Lorne said once everyone had settled in.

Today we're going to talk about how music is used for various purposes. For instance:

Hot dogs! Armor Hot dogs!
What kind of kid likes armor Hotdogs?
Big kids, little kids, kids who climb on rocks!
Fat kids, skinny kids, even kids with chicken pox like hotdogs!
Armor hotdogs! The dogs kids love to bite!

Or another example and my personal favorite...

I've been really tryin', baby
Tryin' to hold back this feelin' for so long
And if you feel like I feel, baby
Then come on, oh, come on
Whoo, let's get it on
Ah, babe, let's get it on
Let's love, baby
Let's get it on, sugar
Let's get it on
Whoo-ooh-ooh

We're all sensitive people
With so much to give
Understand me, sugar
Since we got to be
Let's live
I love you

There's nothin' wrong
With me lovin' you
Baby, no, no
And givin' yourself to me can never be wrong
If the love is true
Oh, babe, ooh, ooh

Don't you know
How sweet and wonderful life can be?
Whoo-ooh
I'm askin' you, baby
To get it on with me
Ooh, ooh, ooh

I ain't gonna worry, I ain't gonna push
Won't push you, baby
So come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, baby
Stop beatin' 'round the bush, hey

Let's get it on, ooh, ooh
Let's get it on
You know what I'm talkin' 'bout
Come on, baby, hey, hey
Let your love come out
If you believe in love
Let's get it on, ooh, ooh
Let's get it on, baby
This minute, oh yeah
Let's get it on

Here we have two different uses of music. One is about getting people to buy meat that no decent person would put in their mouth if they knew what was in it and the other is about making sweeeeeet love to someone..."

Lorne paused for moment remembering his audience and then added:

"After saving themselves for marriage."

"Your assignment today is to sing us a song and tell us how it can be used. Whether it be spiritual, commercial, emotional or something else we're not aware of. Hop to it kittens. Show me what you got."

I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an' pretend
'cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
No one's ever gonna keep me down again

Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman

You can bend but never break me
'cause it only serves to make me
More determined to achieve my final goal
And I come back even stronger
Not a novice any longer
'cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul

CHORUS

I am woman watch me grow
See me standing toe to toe
As I spread my lovin' arms across the land
But I'm still an embryo
With a long long way to go
Until I make my brother understand

Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to I can face anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman
Oh, I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong

FADE
I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong
I am woman

Once she finished this slightly rhythmically impaired rendition, she leaned forward over the microphone and explained, "It's an anthem. It was a call to arms for the women's movement, and for feminists. It made women realize that they could be whatever they wanted."
