Rory sleepily toddled into the library, and immediately set herself up behind the desk with her coffee and her laptop.

Not, you know, together. Because there were keys and liquid and no.

Angela wandered in and started looking through the magazines that had come in that week. "Hey, Rory."

"Hi!" Rory said, cheerful though distracted. "What're you up to?"

"Now or in general?," Angela asked. "Now, Taking care of the periodicals." She frowned at the copy of Vampire Unliving that was almost obscured by Martha Stewart Weddings. "We get the most bizarre mix of stuff here.

Rory peered at the periodicals, and laughed. "Think Angel has a subscription?"

"I dunno," Angela said, frowning as she opened the magazine to an article about browsing for prey in a shopping mall. "I think it's for vamps who are a little less soul-having than him. Plus, there are, like, a zillion coffin ads in here."

Rory wrinkled her nose. "Should I get Vladdie a weetiny coffin, maybe?"

"But his little bed is so cute," Angela said, looking sad. "Do you think he'd even want one?"

"I think it might confuse him," Rory said, frowning. "Oh, hey, he just turned a year old about a week ago. I completely forgot."

She looked sad. "Do you think we should celebrate his bitey day instead?"

"Definitely. You can even celebrate your 18th and his first together," Angela said. "Oh! But maybe get him a little treat this week so he doesn't feel neglected."

Rory nodded. "I'll take him for walkies, too, since we don't get out enough. Maybe out to a common room."

"Yeah, he probably hasn't getting much puppy playtime lately," Angela said cautiously, not adding her thoughts of, "because I doon't think you've been leaving your room often" and "not that I blame you."

"If Buffy's still a puppy, maybe he could play with her. And we studied dog in Creature Languages, so I could even talk to Vladdie and see what hge wants. Weird."

"He did play with Buffy!" Rory said excitedly. "This weekend. It was the cutest thing ever."

"Just blurry ones on my phone," Rory said, flipping it out to show Angela. "I think Vladdie misses Sean."

"Its still incredibly cute," Angela said, grinning at the photos. "And Angel has to bring Sean with him when he comes back for homecoming." She wasn't even thinking about the possibility he wouldn't come back.

"He'd better," Rory said, looking petulant. "He's coming, so if he doesn't bring Sean, Vladdie will emo."

"...I cannot imagine an emo Vladdie," Angela said. "It's an oxymoron or something. But yay, Angel's coming. I called last week but he hasn't called back yet."

"Aw," Rory said. "I should call him again and let him know I'm doing better. He was worried. You know, in that Angel way where he doesn't actually acknowledge that he's worried at all."

"When he kind of doesn't say much, still, but the way he doesn't say much is really sweet?," Angela said. "And yeah, I'm sure he'd be happy to hear you're doing better. I'm really happy to hear you say it."

Rory shrugged. "I mean it all still hurts, but I'm actually, like, leaving my room and stuff. It's an improvement."

"You got so much dumped on you so fast," Angela said. "It'd be really callous of you if you didn't still hurt. Anakin was here a month ago, you know?"

Rory nodded. "But Lukey helps. And I'm sort of...calmer about Vader. So yay."

Angela sighed. "Yay. I'm not. Just the idea of what you say he's done ... I think I need to stop by his office, so I can see him and he's not like this imaginary boogeyman I keep frightening myself with. Does that make any sense at all?"

"I've heard," Angela said. "I just think I'll be calmer once I see for myself." She shrugged, as her reasoning didn't entirely make sense even to herself. "Today's his class, isn't it?"
