Internet for Dummies, Wednesday 9/20, 3rd Period

The danger room is set up like a Japanese garden, complete with low benches, soothing waterfall sounds and the scent of flowers. The only thing out of place is the large red mat with a white circle on it, and the goth chick holding a gong.

GONNNGGGG

"I love doing that." Abby grinned over the fading echo of the gong. "As you can see, we're doing today's class in a slightly different environment. I'll get to that point in a minute."

"Last week you learned how to use ISP's to sign onto the internet, this week we're going to learn how to look at it. We're talking about browsers today. They're a program that you use to access text, images and information on the web." Abby said, giving a very informative lecture.

"Ask most any geek and they'll tell you why their browser is the best. Some of us even have multiple browsers that we use for different tasks." Abby smiled and pointed to a pile of flesh colored plastic. "Today, we'll discover which browser is the best by a totally scientific experiment."

"Fake sumo wrestling."

Abby banged the gong again loudly. "Grab a suit and let's get our sumo on!"

[ooc:please wait for ocd threads Up! Go and play!]
[son of ooc: Just in case people aren't aware of the inflatable sumo wrestling phenomenon, here's a couple of pictures of the suits]

Pete, being unfamiliar both with the concept of browsers as well as that of sumo wrestling, was not so much very, very confused but wondering how it was that fat guys shoving each other around helped you look at the internet.

Modern technology was weird.

Angela looked at the pile of plastic with distaste. Was she really expected to put it on?

She twirled in her chair and looked round for a partner.

"This is officially one of the weirdest classes ever," Mac commented giving her plastic suit an expermental prod. "We seriously get graded on sumo?"

Pete pulled on the suit with the big E on it. Because, well, he recognized the big E.

Poor fool. He was possibly about to get smooshed.

Or not, since even in a padded suit that still has her giggling helplessley every time she looks down at it (or across), Door's still quite a bit smaller than Pete. Still, once she's donned the suit with the N on it, she approaches him.

"Hi - I think we're meant to fight?"

Armed with a padded suit and strenuous hours of training under a samurai sushi master to get down all the necessary scary grunts and yells - you should hear his 'baka no teenager!', he's got quite the growl going on - Jude stands ready to defend his chosen browser.

Evie was deeply worried about this at first, but it looked far too amusing to stay out of, after a while.

She waddled over to the center of the room. "Have at you!"

The sumo inevitably makes me think of Transmetropolitan (http://pics.livejournal.com/kemayo/pic/0000b66r).
