The danger room is set up like a Japanese garden, complete with low benches, soothing waterfall sounds and the scent of flowers. The only thing out of place is the large red mat with a white circle on it, and the goth chick holding a gong.

GONNNGGGG

"I love doing that." Abby grinned over the fading echo of the gong. "As you can see, we're doing today's class in a slightly different environment. I'll get to that point in a minute."

"Last week you learned how to use ISP's to sign onto the internet, this week we're going to learn how to look at it. We're talking about browsers today. They're a program that you use to access text, images and information on the web." Abby said, giving a very informative lecture.

"Ask most any geek and they'll tell you why their browser is the best. Some of us even have multiple browsers that we use for different tasks." Abby smiled and pointed to a pile of flesh colored plastic. "Today, we'll discover which browser is the best by a totally scientific experiment."

"Fake sumo wrestling."

Abby banged the gong again loudly. "Grab a suit and let's get our sumo on!"

"I get the feeling people who've actually used them before get very defensive of these browser things," she says, taking a stance she's seen a similarly-sized fighter take in the marketplace. "But I'm not sure trial by combat's going to prove which one works better."

Pete looked around to see if Abby was listening, then shuffled forward to mutter. "I get the feelin' that the teacher woman is not all there in the head."

Door glances over at her with a grin. "Most people I know aren't, really. She seems to know what she's doing with these machines, though."

"I fail to see how us dressin' up in these oddly shiny outfits will affect the machines. Except in that I don't think I could poke it right now if I tried."

Door considers it seriously for a moment. Well, she tries to, because she does get that the teacher's mostly having fun with them. "Theyc ould be magic suits, I suppose?"

"Magic suits. What's so magic about them?"

"Well, the machines probably think the protection from poking's pretty magical. But otherwise..." Door frowns. "Maybe they affect the computers somehow?" They could, she supposes. Not a clue what they'd do...

Pete can't help but wonder if a verbal debate is the sort of fight that Abby was expecting. Well, either way.

"Perhaps we should experiment and find out? We could jump up an' down or somethin' and see if anything on the glowy thing changes."

Door glances at her borrowed laptop, open on one of the benches. The screen is filled, ironically, with the school homepage on Firefox. "We could try that. I suppose I should actually open the one I'm supposed to be representing."

She...well, waddles, over to the computer and clicks the big N, then waddles back to the ring.

With an eye on the screen, she jumps up -- and of course loses her balance and falls over on her side.

"...anything happening?" she asks from the ground.

"There's a little thingy flyin' around the N." Pete shuffled over, and tripped.

It might be impressive how he's able to flail when he can't lift his arms above his shoulders with any ease.

Door tries to right herself, and fails abominably. "I think that's always there."

"Oh. Well, no, then." Pete gave a mighty shove and managed to get back on his feet.

Then toppled over the other way.

"How on earth are people supposed to fight in these things if you can't even fight against them?" Door grumbles as she tries to stand up.

Pete flailed as best he could.

"No idea."

"We could help each other up and call it a draw?" Door offers, rolling in his general direction.

"That is possibly an idea that has great merit," Pete mumbled, and rolled onto his side.

Door manages to get to one knee without falling over, and offers him her hand.

Pete grabbed at her hand and pushed up with the other. "I feel like a cannon ball or somethin'."

"We'd be moving a lot faster if we were cannonballs," Door says, laughing as she's pulled to her feet.

'Only if there were a cannon here abouts. Otherwise, they just kinda roll around uselessly."

"Good point. And that does describe us pretty well!"

"Do you think this is one of them . . . metaphor things for the browsers?"

Door contemplates this. "They're useless for anything else, so you might as well shoot them?" she offers.

"Sounds about right to me."
