The Library, 9/19

After a trip to the Perk to pick up a giant mocha, Isabel arrived to open the library for her first day on the job. She wasn't nervous. Much.

Jack flipped through the book, and nodded in understanding. "Kids movie. Okay. Maybe not the best choice for a movie night. But I'd still like to read it," he said with a smile. "Thanks, Izzy."

"Between this, The Little Prince, and whatever else you come up with, I'm going to end up regressing to five years old." Jack grinned, not at all serious, and leaned across the counter. "Luckily I've got pirate ninja sex to read in between."

"Nah, everything has deeper meanings. You just have to look for them," Isabel smiled. "And your still a fan of pirate ninja sex? I would have thought meeting her put a stop to that."

"They'll never stop being funny, no matter how unique the author is," Jack replied. "Do the Woozles represent some great universal truth?"

"Heffalumps and Woozles represent the fear of the unknown," she replied. "But read it and then one day we can head out to the woods, find a stream and play Pooh Sticks."

"Why would anyone fear the unknown? The unknown is what makes life interesting." Laughing, he tucked the book under his arm. "And that sounds like something Jaye would have to say 'dirty', too. But I'm guessing it's not, or you wouldn't be inviting me."

"That's sort of true. But not when you're a bear of very little brain. Which is what the main character of the story is," Isabel explained. Grinning wickedly, she poked his side. "You never know. I could surprise you one day."

"Promises, promises." Jack snagged her hand and kissed it. "You, Isabel, tease me mercilessly." Leaning closer, he whispered, "And I like it."

Laughing, she pulled her hand back and wrapped her arms around Jack's neck. "Someone has to keep you on your toes."

He wrapped his arms around her waist and straightened, lifting her off her feet. "Good thing I've got you, then, isn't it?"

"You'd better believe it," Isabel smiled as she kissed his cheek. "Think of how bored you'd be otherwise."

Jack carefully set Isabel on her feet and reached around for her hands, drawing them off his neck and pressing a kiss to each one. "I don't want to," he said with a small smile. "Too depressing."

"And a depressed Jack is something I just can't imagine," she said, smiling at the hand kisses. "That would be sad."
