Friday: Energy & Fitness Week 2

A note was left on the door of the classroom instructing his class to meet him in the gym in ten minutes dressed for a work out.

Yondaime was there waiting for them this time instead of being late. 'Cept he seemed to be arguing with a small red frog... that was actually arguing back. They both looked up at once as the students started to appear and the frog disappeared in a small puff of smoke leaving the blond looking rather annoyed as he waited for everyone to arrive. He put on a smile though and waited for everyone to show up before he started speaking.

"I'm glad to see everyone here again and that I didn't scare you off last week." He chuckled slightly at himself; it was kind of sad, but he was trying to not be annoyed at his amphibian visitor. "Today we'll be running tests, not fun I know, but I'll need to know all of your skill levels before I break you up into teams." Yondaime explained and turned to his TAs motioning for them to join him. "You two will be tested last since I'll need your help administering them." He smiled and ruffled Skif's hair before turning to the rest of the class.

"After I lead you through warm-ups, we'll go through the tests and yes you will be graded on these." He waited for the impending moan of protest regarding that, but they wouldn't really he just wanted them to have the incentive to perform to their best abilities.

Dodging Edward was good at, he was used to things flying his way. Small gouts of fire, miscellaneous wrenches, the occasional hail of bullets... a few balls that WERE going to connect he blocked easily on his forearms, and had almost made it clear across the room when a red rubber ball smacked him in the back of the head.

"DAMMIT AL!"

Alphonse? Take this opportunity to cream his brother with rubber balls? Why, never.

He grinned innocently, waving around another ball. "Your fault you can't dodge."

Edward flailed in Alphonse's direction, then got the bright idea to pick up one of the balls and fire it back at his brother. His aim wasn't top-notch, but if he threw enough he had to hit Al at some point, right?

Alphonse made an undignified squeak when he saw the ball flying towards him, blocking it with the ball he was already holding. At that point he decided to fling both the balls at Edward as hard as he could.

Sakurazaki still hadn't really met Alphonse's brother yet, but there was no way she'd fail to recognize Edward as an Elric.

With a grin, she decided to say hello by lobbing a few dodgeballs at him. Luckily for him, missile weapons were certainly not her strong point.

Edward flailed and dodged fairly well, which involved also leaping and at one point turning a handspring to avoid being pegged by the rubber missiles. "OI! What the hell did I do to YOU, HUH?!"

Dodging? Not so much Anders's thing. He was used to intercepting passes, cutting in to snag them, that sort of thing. But it couldn't be that different from dodging opposing players . . . right? The balls were just a lot smaller. And possibly faster.

Yeah, okay, he could do this.

Anders took a deep breath and started to run. It wasn't too long before he realized that the balls didn't announce their approach with the distinctive sound of running footsteps.

Ow.

Re: Test 3

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-15 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Sakurazaki pretended that she was aiming her rubber balls at Anders' thighs and knees and shins. It certainly had noooothing to do with the fact that all her throws were ending up horrible shorter than she had anticipated, nope, not at all.

Re: Test 3

[identity profile] deanforrester.livejournal.com 2006-09-15 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Dean was a really big target. And since he wasn't that great at sprinting, he wasn't a particularly fast target, either. He held his own, but he was definitely feeling it afterwards. Ouch.

The throwing, however, was great. He had quite the arm, and pelted balls with the best of them.

Re: Test 3

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-09-15 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
See, throwing? That, Anders is good at. You have to be to throw a grapefruit-sized ball into a vertical goal barely bigger than that. (There's also his secret aspiration to learn to pitch, which of course involves throwing a tiny ball at extremely high velocities into a small target zone.)

He wasn't going all out, and he wasn't aiming at heads or vulnerable areas, but he was definitely aiming to hit. And from the look of it, having way too much fun.

Re: Test 3

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-15 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
There was a reason that Sakurazaki wasn't on the Mahora dodgeball team.

It had everything to do with the fact that dodgeball on Mahora's campus was a very big deal and everyone who played it was insanes; it had nothing to do with her failure to dodge things.

Although that could sometimes be a point against her.

She kept her low run as she started across the room, keeping her mind open to any approaching red objects that she might duck or jump out of the path of.

Re: Test 3

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-09-15 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Anders lobbed rubber balls Sakurazaki's way at a pretty rapid clip, grinning the whole time.

Who, him? Determined to make sure everybody was at least as sore as he'd been after his run? Naaaaaaaaaaah.

Re: Test 3

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-15 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
At first, Sakurazaki could manage to avoid the rapid successtion of rubber balls from Anders pretty well, but she usually did well at first. Eventually, she got herself all worked up from jumping and ducking out of the way that she took three of them, one after the other, to various spots as she tried to avoid them: one to her shoulder blade, one against her shin, and one that bounced rather nicely off the top of her head.

Aw, crap. But she admired his quickness.

Re: Test 3

[identity profile] sogothcally.livejournal.com 2006-09-15 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Cally thankfully wasn't a big target.

She also wasn't that fast, though. So while she did manage to dodge a decent amount to balls, there was a lot more time to throw them at her, and she still got walloped a few times.

As for throwing, well...

...she's not so good at that. The phrase 'like a girl' springs to mind, as horrible as that phrase is.

Re: Test 3

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-09-15 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
. . . not that Anders, with his Pyramid player's throwing arm, had anything to do with a few of those good wallops or anything.

Re: Test 3

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-15 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
As for Sakurazaki's particularly light, easily avoidable lobs toward Cally? She would totally say that it was because, as the only other girl in the class, it was important to form an alliance with Cally and not pelt her too hard with rubber balls. Because that was no way to form an alliance. She would even get Fruedian about it, if she had to.

She was determined to secure plenty of bullshit reasons to cover up the fact that she just couldn't freakin' throw.

Re: Test 3

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-09-16 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
Apparently Cameron's throwing was heaps better than his dodging.

Re: Test 3

[identity profile] thebluespirit.livejournal.com 2006-09-16 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
There was a small smirk as Zuko seemed pretty convinced he could dodge the balls. He actually pulled off some interesting rolls and jumps to prove it.

Re: Test 3

[identity profile] thebluespirit.livejournal.com 2006-09-16 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Zuko rolled forward and did a 180, low on the ground. He scowled as he really wasn't sure who'd thrown the ball. Even if he might have had a suspicion.

Re: Test 3

[identity profile] electric-sitar.livejournal.com 2006-09-16 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
Demyx scowled, crossing his arms over his chest. "...Is it over yet?"

Re: Test 3

[identity profile] electric-sitar.livejournal.com 2006-09-16 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"What? You want me to run around like a Heartless and let you throw things at me?" Demyx tapped his foot a little. "How about I go sit in the corner and write music instead?" His sitar appeared in his hands, and he strummed a few chords.

Pip dashed across the room and dove into a roll, trying to avoid the balls as much as he could.

Yes, he's a great target because of his height.
