Science! (Thursday, Period 7)

"Good afternoon, class!" Ms Frizzle trilled as she flounced into class, standing en pointe for a moment before clapping her hands together. Today's ensemble involved a lemon-yellow dress covered in lightbulbs and glowing filaments, with matching earrings and shoes. "I am so excited about all your wonderful ideas about the science fair that you came up with the last class! Today I thought we'd talk about all the different things you can do with science -"

Suddenly, all the lights went off in the classroom.

"Oh, shoot! Liz!" Ms Frizzle called. There was a scrabble of claws and the sound of drawers being opened and closed. "Now where's that flashlight . . ." Ms Frizzle muttered to herself. "A ha! Here it is!"

The flashlight flicked on - illuminating the gigantic gremlin silhouetted against one wall of the classroom!

The classroom lights come on to reveal Liz hanging precariously from the light switch and the gremlin disappeared. Miss Frizzle straightened, turning off the flashlight, and laughed at the small gremlin bouncing on its spring in the top drawer of her lab bench. "This gives me a wonderful idea!" she crowed as her earrings began to glow and she headed for the window, leaning out and giving a sharp whistle. "Everyone to the bus!"

[[Thank you, Walter and Pip, for that lovely little segue. Please wait for OCD. OCD away! Get messy, etc!

EDIT: *facepalm* Sorry, should have been more clear. You can say where you landed when you de-photon.]]

Naomi hadn't been on a field trip related to school work before and thus she was very excited by the prospect of going on one.

Gwynn... didn't know what a field trip was, but everyone seemed excited about it, so she followed them.

Edward really wasn't even awake yet. He blinked at the bus. Since when were there buses on the island, anyway?

Field trips are always good, so Jaye's happy.

Unless they're field trips to like, a meat packing plant or something.

She hopes they're not going to a meat packing plant.

"Sitting Bull!" Pippi yelled jumping after Ms. Frizzle.

Give her a break, she's Swedish.

Tyler closed his eyes and jumped.

It felt ... fizzy.

Naomi was a little bit nervous about jumping so she took a deep breath and then jumped.

Molly jumped out the window. "WHEEEE!" She yelled as she slid down the funnel.

She was still yelling it when she reappeared on the ground below.

Chad didn't so much as jump into the funnel as he did drop.

He was scratching the back of his head thoughtfully when he reappeared.

Gwynn might have squeaked as she felt herself falling through the tunnel thingie. When she hit the ground. she looked around in a bit of confusion.

So there was magic, and there was science, and then there was this, which was making Edward's head hurt. Because it looked like people were jumping into a giant funnel and getting zapped all over creation.

That was completely nuts. He kind of sidled over, peered at the funnel, then shrugged and jumped in. Couldn't be any worse than the Gate, could it?

He ended up on his head against a wall, wondering what the hell kind of truck that hit him and where he could get its license plate number.

Um. Okay.

It doesn't look like anyone's dead, so. Eh. Jaye jumps, doing one of those pencil dives people do when they really don't want to dive into a pool head first.

They use that trick at the La Brea Tar Pits to morph a skeleton of a woman found in the tar with a manakin that (theoretically) was made to look like the woman when she was alive.

How small is smallish? As in, is the bus smaller than they (hence Miss Frizzle's jumping) or is smallish meaning, like, short-bus sized?
