If the classroom looked a bit like a discount Swedish furniture store had exploded inside of it, well...at least the projectiles were now easily replaceable.

Which might be a good thing.

Precisely on time, Darth Vader swept into the room and slammed the door firmly behind him.

"Today we talk about lying," he said, his masked face scanning the faces in front of him as he prowled around the classroom.

"Everyone lies," he stated flatly. "To hide things, to manipulate others, to avoid...unpleasantness." There was a definite hint of scorn in his voice at that last example. "In class today, you are required to pair up and only tell the truth." His cape whirled behind him. "And I can tell if you are not. Such disobedience will result in detention."

He paused for a moment. "And I don't believe in that axiom where if you cannot say something nice, you don't say anything at all. I do not require you to be nice. I require you to be honest."

He crossed his arms over his chest. "Name. Place of birth. Classes you are taking," he barked out. "Proceed from there."

"Ha! Let him. He said no lying, and we're not lying," he said very smugly. "And I think this is the best way to get to him. There's no reason we have to be morbid or emo just because he wants us to be. And there's almost nothing that can't be manipulated into something fun."

"Not if you try hard enough," Rory said, nodding. "I mean, fun is relative. And learning is supposed to be enjoyable. We're following the assignment. There's no reason for us to be unhappy about it just because he's a bitter, horrible, wheezy person."

"Exactly," Jack said gleefully. "And suddenly I don't think this class is going to be as bad as I thought."

"Really, I can only go up from the way I thought this class would be after last week," Rory replied, rolling her eyes. "Also, I'm imagining Vader wearing pink bunny ears now, and it's hilarious."

Jack looked up, stared at Vader for several long seconds, then cracked up. "Yeah, and now I can picture a little fluffy tail peeking out from under his robes."

"Hopping," Rory added through her giggles.

"Bunny Vader," he snickered. "Wheezily spreading fluffy pink forebodings of doom throughout the school."

Rory snorted. "See, now I'm imagining him hiding colored eggs and advertising for batteries."

"Except instead of being green or pink or blue or whatever, they'd only be different shades of black," he pointed out, still laughing. "And they'd probably be rotten."

"His own little passive-aggressive revenge for having to wear fluffy ears and a tail," she agreed seriously.

"Yup. That sounds about right." Jack leaned back in his chair and crossed his ankles. "And we're not going to let him get to us."
