Library [09/14]

Rory opened the library a few minutes early, sweeping in a bit rain-splattered and windblown, but actually smiling.

She settled herself behind the desk, and after straightening the sign displaying the new aides, set to work rereading her favorite passages from The Complete Dorothy Parker.

The library was closed unless you had pressing need to be there. Rory didn't, really, but it's not like she was prying herself away from her book and her lunch of Alphabits in a ziploc.

Angela brought her string cheese and apple into the library and started rummagign through the new magazines. "Hey, Rory."

"Hi," Rory said with a real smile and a wave. "Have I missed anything exciting with you since last time in the common room?"

"I've been kind of keeping to myself the last couple days," Angela said. "I learned to speak dog and AOL was evil at me. That's kind of it. How are you doing?"

"Better," she said honestly. "And AOL is always evil."

"It asked me for a username and I didn't have one, so I typed my name, and it said that was boring, so I typed my name backwards, and it said I was banned from the Internet, so I told it it sucked and then it tried to sell me a leatherette bag," Angela said, all in one breath. "It was weird."

"And I'm glad you're doing better."

"It banned you from the internet?" Rory asked, staring. "...why?"

"It said I needed a life," Angela scowled. "I mean, it was funny. Ish."

"AOL is dumb," Rory replied. "I never got it to work right and it was really random with its responses. Blah.

"Ick," Angela agreed. "The laptop I borrowed has wireless, so I'll just avoid AOL forever. Mac -- the computers TA -- was talking about doing a ritual bonfire to destrol AOL."

"Mac's smart," Rory said, nodding seriously. "I think that used to be one of Mom's tactics against her employees. If Michel was being obnoxious, she'd ask him to call the AOL tech support because the internet at the inn was acting weird."

"I love your mom a whole lot for that," Angela decided. "What about you -- anything exciting going on?"

"Not really," Rory replied. "I've been spending a lot of time with Lukey and I trained Bridge earlier. It'l going to be weird having boys in here."

"Lukey?," Angela asked with raised brows. "And yeah, it'll be weird. We haven't really had a guy working here since Dr. Pierson left. I mean, the last two librarians, but we hardly saw them."

"I think Bridge and Sam will be good at this, though."

Rory nodded. "Bridge and Sam are both good at this kind of thing, and Bridge already knew how pretty much everything works. Plus he pointed out that remembering to wear gloves won't be a problem for him."

"Which means he won't end up with a weird alternate-reality self running arund," Angela nodded. "Very important."

She had to go back to the 'Lukey.' "So what are you and Luke Skywalker talking about?"

"Anakin," Rory said simply. "And Darth Vader. And...everything. He doesn't know anything about his dad. I'm in the best position to tell him."

Angela smiled slightly at that. "It's great you guys have each other. He seemed sweet, and the whole thing is so sad. Not him being here, at all -- but everything else."

She played with a bit of hair. "Marty talked to Principal Washburn about Vader last week," she said finally. "She told him we had nothing to worry about, but ..." She shrugged. "I guess it comes down to your thing about trusting them."

"He's not going to hurt us," she said firmly. "And if he does, Aeryn says that we'll pull a study group on him, and he'll have to deal with that."

Angela looked down for a long moment, thinking, and her eyes were hard when she looked back up. "Study group," she said cautiously, "didn't really work. People got hurt and Drusilla and Darla got away. So if he hurts any of us ..." she sighed. "I hope we're better at it this time."

"I just mean we have people who are capable and want him dead. Other than me," Rory amended. "If he hurts anyone, he'll have to deal with peiple like Aeryn as well as the administration."

"Aeryn's great with this stuff," Angela allowed. "And Angel's just a portal away, too. And there are other people. So at least we have numbers."

"Angel wants me to call him and keep him updated," Rory said, nodding. "And he volunteered his help if we need it."

"Great," Angela said. "Well, not great that, y'know, we might need it. But great that he's in the loop. How's he doing, anyhow? I keep meaning to call him but I don't know what to say."

"He's good," Rory nodded. "He called me a couple days after Anakin left, to check on me. Logan's fine, too. I should go out and visit them at some point."
