Feeling much better than from his earlier class, Seimei moved with much more ease.

His discussion question had already been written out while taking his lunch in the faculty lounge, so he was ready.

Discussion question –

There were two key dynasties in China who had significant influence on the first centralized Chinese empire. Who were they and what were their contributions?

Seimei sat down to his table and picked up his brush to tally roll. “Also, due next Monday, September 26 is a longer written assignment to discuss the following question.”

After a few moments of writing, he displayed a second scroll that had a discussion question.

Jalâlat ud-Dîn Raziyâ was the first woman to have ruled India. Discuss the reforms she implemented during her brief rule and what factors were key in her eventual overthrow.

“Due date is firm.”

“Please drop by the roster page to verify your name is on the roll for the correct class. I will be keeping stricter tally of who shows up in class and who does not.”

One was the the Ch'in dynasty and the other the Han. These two dynasties united China and also transformed it. The old hereditary nobility was replaced with a new aristocracy based on military merit and a universal draft was introduced. Peasants were liberated from attachment to the land, owned by the former lords, and were granted ownership of the land, for which they had to pay taxes. The transformed China into a wealthy and powerful country.
*Blinks* Is that alright? I am afraid that most of my education up until now has been on magic, so this is a little new to me.

Aeryn is currently protesting the weapons ban at the firing range, but has sent along a note begging to drop the class, as she doesn't even know where India is and it's causing her stress.

Subaru sits quietly, taking notes and concentrating on the question. He knows he should have the answer but it seems to have escaped him.

Embarrassed, he hunches over and tries to make himself as small as possible.

Phoebe writes down the questions and keeps her head down as she focuses on her work.

"I'm very sorry, Professor, but all I can remember at the moment is that the Qin dynasty established the aristocracy. I will try to do better next week." Wednesday retreats behind her books, looking extremely embarrassed.
