Fandom High Library, Wednesday, 9/6

[chasingangela]

Angela came in a little late, clutching a mug of chai and a bagel like lifelines. She loaded a copy of the Sims into her "new" laptop and started trying to keep a very whiny miniature couple alive.

The library was open.

After Ms. Readman came in, Angela put a stack of applications on the counter and waited to see who would appply.

"Hey! I wouldn't object," Angela said, gratefully pausing the computer game, where Frito had just brought home a failing repport card. "What do you have?"

"Chicken salad on croissant, chips and a big dill pickle," Marty replied as he spread out the lunch. "And whatever choice of beverage you happen to have around since I forgot to drinks."

"I think all we have is water," Angela said apologetically. She went to fill two cups.

"So how's yoour day going?"

"Pretty good," Marty replied. "Haven't really had anything important to do today so I've been just hanging out. How's life in the library?"

"No classes yet?," Angela asked. "My last one was today."

"Library life is good. We finally got the appplications for new aides!"

"Well I had my campaigning class with Professor Lyman," Marty replied. "But other than that my entire day is free. Actually except for my lab on Friday the rest of the week is free."

"Think you can stay out of trouble?," Angela teased."And how's Mr. Lyman doing? I loved his class."

"Now why would you think I would cause any trouble?" Marty asked looking completely innocent. "He loves me. I had coffee with him the other day."

"Because I know you," Angela said, taking a bite of sandwich. "So check it out, Ms. Sciuto gave me a laptop to use all semester. I can quit borrowiing yours."

"You seem to think I'm some sort of troublemaker," Marty said shaking his head sadly. "And now that you can't borrow my laptop you'll need to find another excuse to see me during the day."

"And excuses are always so, so hard to find," Angela said, making big eyes. "Though it will be a litle weird not to have any classes with you this semester."

"Well I'll have to fix that," Marty replied. "Maybe I'll crash some of your classes this semester."

"I bet Ms. Sciuto wouldn't mind," Angela said. "Or I could crash your pprophecy thing."

She glanced at him from under her lashes. "So did you see the gremlin performance in the common room last night? They ACT now."

"I try to stay away from Gremlins in general," Marty said leaning over to kiss Angela on the cheek. "I don't think the current principal would appreciate it. You will however need to crash prophecy sometime. I'm sure Mr. Phale would love to see you again."

"They acted out the whole year," Angela said in amazement. "And yeah, I need to say hi to him. You know how things get harder the longer you put them off? It's like that."

"Yeah, though you may not be able to say hello to him until after you get back now," Marty replied. "Unless he drops by the library today. When do you leave?"

"First thing tomorrow," Angela said. "It made things easiest n terms of flight time."

She nibbled on a chip. "Want to ride with me to the airport?"

"Heck, I'd even get on the plane if I could," Marty replied. "But I don't feel right skipping a class on the first week of school."

"I wouldn't go if I had class," Angela said, waving it off. "I feel bad enough skipping two days of work."

"You'll live. Especially after you get to see your friends and family for the weekend," Marty said before taking a bite of his sandwich. "You'll tell Danielle and your parents I said hello, right?"

"Absolutely," Angela said, reaching to to touch his hand. "And I'll really miss you."

She's 17. Let's allow her the melodrama.

Marty gave her hand a squeeze before lifting it up to his lips to kiss it. "I'll miss you too."

Angela wiped her lips on her napkin.

And deliberately leaned in for a very nice kiss that probably wasn't completely library-appropriate.


"Thanks for lunch," she said. "Really."
