Library [09/05]

Rory came in early - much earlier than she usually cared to be up, but it's not as though she had been sleeping well anyway - and opened up the library.

She took her place behind the desk with her cup of coffee and several cupcakes. She wasn't sure why she had cupcakes ~~aside from it being FH's first birthday~~ other than her usual desire to be whimsical. In any case, she had napkins and antibacterial lotion, so the books would stay safe even though she was eating nowhere near them.

Rory sat behind the desk, sleepily nibbling at a cupcake and playing Tetris on her cell phone.

With breakfast out of the way and her hands clean, Rory set to work organizing books that needed to be reshelved.

And now she was dusting shelves off in the stacks, though she could be called to help anyone who needed it.

But of course she got distracted doing that, and finally remembered to return to the desk with the novel that had caught her attention.

Time for more cupcakes, of course.

And appropriately enough, Rory wasn't here for fifth period because she had her Literature class. Perhaps someone else could be of assistance?

But then she returned, and set to work balancing a pencil on her nose.

And now? Doodles.

Kind of depressing doodles, but what do you expect?

Alanna came into the library, looking like her mind was millions of miles away.

After her 5th period literature class Naomi decided to check out the library, which was a place that she hadn't actually checked out yet. She was currently in the history section browsing through the texts, debating on what she wanted to read about it.

Thursday entered the library and began to wander around to get a feel for the place. After The Great Library, all others paled in comparison, but the set-up wasn't bad at all for a school, especially one that didn't have quite the same historical affinity for literature as her own universe.

She noticed that there was no one at the counter and decided to call out. "Hello?"

Since he didn't have any classes today, Sam decided to head to the library to do some research on visions. He knew it was going to be a long shot to find anything that might help him, but he wanted to check anyway.

The lure of The Perk had been too great for Laura to pass up that morning, so she entered the library with a ~~grande~~ medium white chocolate mocha in one hand, her notepad and pen tucked under the other arm. She sipped the coffee carefully before placing it down on a nearby table. Gathering up the mass of hair atop her head, she pinned it up with a spare pencil, then went off in search of a few books on the Terran international community.

After an hour, the former president was feeling a bit overwhelmed. On the table beside her mostly-empty coffee cup were two impressive stacks of books, including The Republic by Plato; The Leviathan by Thomas Hobbes; The Social Contract by Rousseau; The Prince by Machiavelli; The Second Treatise by John Locke; as well as a bound copy of the American Declaration of Independence. All of this without even touching on the alien systems she wanted to highlight. With a sigh, she settled in to take notes, realizing this was going to take more than she thought.

Rory stuck her head around the shelf she was browsing. "Oh! Hi! Sorry," she said, bustling over. "Can I help you?"

"Don't walk into anything," Rory advised, noting the expression.

Rory took in the hair, and said, "Hi, Sam. Can I help you find anything?"

Rory poked her head around the stacks. "Hi! Can I help you find anything?"

Wilson had tea. This made him happy. He also had some research to do for his oncology paper and so had decided to check out the periodical section of the library. Thus he slipped in quietly a few hours before he'd be teaching to get some work done.

Setting his soft sided briefcase up on an empty table near the periodical section, he pulled out the laptop and then began to dive in and out of the stacks and around the microfiche to look up what he needed.

"I'll try to avoid it." Alanna said dryly. She looked like she was about to say something, but changed her mind.

"Alanna?" Rory prompted. "Everything okay?"

Alanna bit down on her lip and pulled up a chair to the front desk. "Do you know that my daughter goes to school here?" She aimed for casual. She might have missed.

"Hi," Naomi replied, "I'm trying to decide on what period of history that I want to read about," she looked at the vast selection, "It's rather difficult to decide on what period, do you have any suggestions on what I should read?"

Angela stopped by between getting her computer from Ms. Sciuto and heading th acting class. "Hey, Rory."

Angela was around. She's found the Tetris game on her new computer. Ooooh.
