World History in a Nutshell - Week 1 (09/04)

It's entirely possible that Daniel is looking a wee bit jetlagged at the front of the class and is clutching at a cup of coffee like it's a lifeline.

He smiles as the class files in, leaning against his desk. Once they're all seated, he begins.

"Good afternoon and welcome to World History in a Nutshell. I'm Dr. Jackson, and I'll be taking you through this whirlwind tour of the history of Earth. On your desks is a copy of the tentative syllabus

First of all today, I'd like to go around the room and have everyone do a quick introduction so I can put names to faces."

After that was done, Daniel dimmed the lights.

"We're going to start off with an easy class on prehistory today. I have a documentary, which is about human evolution.

Once that's finished, I'm happy to take any questions and then you can take the Caveman Challenge. I'll be interested to see what percentage you'll get at the end."

Daniel grinned. "I don't think you'll be the only one interested too, which is nice, if a little surprising," he said.

"I know!" Blair bounced. "There's tons of geeks here this year! Plus, my Little Sister Evie who is so awesome and she's lived in Egypt! I told her all about you."

"You did?" asked Daniel, blinking. "That's very flattering, Blair. Uh, you did tell her good stuff, right?"

"Dude." Blair scoffed. "It's you. There isn't bad stuff to tell her!"

Daniel blushed slightly. "I'm very glad you think so," he murmured. "Others might disagree."

"Others are wrong." Blair bounced. "You're...you're Dr. Jackson!"

Really, he had other reasons as to why Daniel was a good guy, but the very idea that people thought there were bad things about was shocking.

Daniel grinned. "You're very good for my ego, Blair, did you know that?"

"That's a good thing, right?" Blair smiled.

"It can be, yes," said Daniel.

"Unless I'm too good for your ego and you go all crazy and declare yourself king and run around calling us your minions."

Daniel coughed slightly. "I think I can safely assure you that won't happen," he said. Alien possession and moments of insanity not withstanding.

"Good to know. Although if you show up to class wearing a crown or a crazy expression, I'll..." Blair paused. "Well, I'll wait till after the lecture and then hit the road."

Daniel snickered. "If I'm apparently having delusions of granduer, or anything like that, your best bet would be to contact Sam Carter or Janet Fraiser," he said.
