(Last) Basketball Practice Gym, Sunday Morning

Peter got to the gym early after running down to J, GoB to pick up some after-practice food for the players who'd been showing up every Sunday morning for the past few months.

He set up the gym for practice, hardly able to believe their last game was going to be on Friday and that this was the last practice of the season.  Maybe their next organised sport would be football.  Peter grinned at the thought and wondered if the cheerleaders would consent to cheering goals and corner kicks instead of baskets.

Starting to dribble a ball in fairly complicated patterns, Peter warmed up.

Cameron moved to one of the mats to start doing some stretches, keeping an out for Tyler as he did so.

Tyler waved to Cam as he started stetching out.

Cameron nodded in greeting and after finishing his set, got up and moved closer to where Tyler was working out. "Yo, man. How's it going?"

"Looks like I'm no longer a new guy," Tyler said,wincing as he stretched the hamstring that always felt so tight. "So it's definitely a good day."

"Yeah, more newbies to fall over in the halls," Cameron replied and apparently he wasn't good at beating around the bush. "I heard you and Sam are starting up a project in Danger Room," he said casually.

That was unexpected. "The experiment?" he asked. "Why, you want to watch?"

Cameron shifted uncomfortably on his feet. "No. I mean, possibly. I was just surprised to hear that you were going to experiment with explosives," he confessed.

"With Sam there," Tyler pointed out. "She's blown up a sun. I think she can keep me from hurting myself."

"So it's like when you went to the junkyard with River to blow things up?" Cameron asked and yes, he was checking up on Tyler.

That had been a good day, and the thought of it made Tyler smile slightly.

"Kind of. Hopefully with fewer storm troopers," Tyler said.

"Storm troopers?" Cameron raised an eyebrow and he was getting more worried now. "You guys got in trouble?"

"They were not exactly fans of people playing with M80s on their turf," Tyler said. "Just chased us off." His eyes darkened. "River was scared."

"I can imagine that," Cameron said, probably to both parts of the story. "Maybe it might be an idea to give them warning first? Are you guys just planning to use the explosives inside Danger Room?"

"I didn't know they would care!," Tyler protested.

Besides, if he'd tried for permission, he probably wouldn't have gotten it.

"Inside the Danger Room only," he confirmed. "Unless we need to blow up some mummies or something." He raised an eyebrow. "You're worried about me?"

Cameron shrugged, but nodded. "A bit. Sam's request to the principal caught me off guard."

Tyler rubbed his chin. "I get why it would. But yeah, I'll be good."

He hated making that promise, hated not being trusted, but he understood why Cam felt the way he did.

"Principal said yes?"

That did ease his mind and Cameron chuckled. "Yep, you're good to go as long as you don't blow yourself up."

"I already spent a week in the clinic," Tyler said. "hospital food sucks, don't want to do it again."

"No, I think I can see that," Cameron said with a grimace.

Tyler nodded as if it was obvious. "And if you want, you can watch Sam and I mix things we probably shouldn't mix."

"I think I'll probably enjoy watching the actual blowing things up part better," Cameron replied and it wasn't jsut saying that to check up on Tyler.

"I'll call you for that part," Tyler promised. "Was thinking about inviting my little brother, too. I need to fiind him later today."

Cameron grinned. "If he's into explosives, that might make him really happy. I'm still deciding if I'm going to go meet the fresh meat or not."

"I figure it can't hurt to go out there at least for a little while," Tyler shrugged. "And if he's not into them, I'll find something else to do with him."
