Flight and Flying [Friday morning]

When the flight workshop arrived at the shed, they found it locked up tight and Anakin leaning up against it.

Wearing a beanie.

And a sullen expression, but that was kind of a given.

"For our last class," he said, "we're going to fly helicopters. The pilot's waiting for us over at Selkie Cove. Come grab a hat--and no, they're not optional--and then we'll head over together."

He even had one Faithful-sized. Anakin was thorough.

"So soon?" Molly asked, blinking back tears still. "You have something for me?"

Anakin reached down to squeeze Molly's hand. "It's days away," he said, walking to the shed and unlocking it. "You get the swoop," he said with a wavering smile. "I can't take it with me, after all."

Molly just stood in the doorway blinking. "What?"

"It's yours," Anakin repeated with a smile.

"Mine?"

Molly couldn't stop herself from crying and turned to Anakin again, hiding her tears in another tight hug.

"Hey," Anakin said softly, rubbing her back. "If you don't like it..."

"Nobody's ever given me anything this nice before," Molly said quietly when she was able to stop crying. She looked up at him. "And I don't want to take it because having it mean you'll be gone."

Anakin's eyes were suspiciously bright. "Nothing's going to be able to stop that last part," he said softly.

Molly nodded sadly. "So I should take the bike because you'll just have to give it to someone else, right?" She tried for a cheeky grin.

Anakin gave her a sad attempt at a grin in return. "Exactly," he said. "And what would Bel really do with a swoop bike, anyway?"

Molly grinned more. "You have a point. He can do that blippy thing. He doesn't need a swoop bike."

"And you definitely do," Anakin said. "Just wear a helmet, okay? Rory'll worry otherwise."

Molly rolled her eyes. "Okay, the girl who is near invulnerable promises to wear a helmet. And I will take your bike, but not until you leave. Until Tuesday, it is still yours."

Anakin smiled and flicked at Molly's hat. "Deal," he said. "And I'll see you before I leave," he promised. "I won't disappear without saying goodbye."

Molly gave him a stern look. "You'd better not." Then she hugged him again. "I am going to miss you so much."

Anakin hung on tightly. "Me, too," he said, voice a little husky.
