Flight and Flying [Friday morning]

When the flight workshop arrived at the shed, they found it locked up tight and Anakin leaning up against it.

Wearing a beanie.

And a sullen expression, but that was kind of a given.

"For our last class," he said, "we're going to fly helicopters. The pilot's waiting for us over at Selkie Cove. Come grab a hat--and no, they're not optional--and then we'll head over together."

He even had one Faithful-sized. Anakin was thorough.

"Well, I wasn't sure so." Alanna dug through her bag and handed him a book that looked like it had been made in the 14th century. "It's um, about martial arts. A type of them."

Anakin's mouth dropped open. "I couldn't possibly accept this," he said.

Alanna blinked. And blinked a second time.

Anakin inwardly flailed. "It's beautiful," he said, "but I can't take anything home with me."

He wished, and not for the first time, that Obi-Wan was here to smooth things over.

"Oh." Alanna felt a bit uncomftorable. "Um...yeah. Because of who you are?"

"Part of being a Jedi involves having no possessions, yes," Anakin said, turning bright red. "I really, really appreciate the gesture, though."

Alanna hugged him again, tightly. "But you can keep your memories."

"Exactly," Anakin said, clinging just a little bit. "And there are so many good ones."
